Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird is engaged. The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo alum shared the news on TikTok on October 8. Boyfriend Darrin Kitchens proposed the night before, two years after she first went public with their relationship. “I am literally STILL over the moon!!!” she wrote alongside photos of the proposal.
The Proposal, With Lana Right There
Her sister was in the room. E! Online reported that Alanna “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson attended the proposal, and Pumpkin made a point of saying so in her post. Darrin asked with Lana by her side, she wrote, and she couldn’t have asked for anything better.
Pumpkin is 26. She has spent most of her life on camera with her mother, June “Mama June” Shannon, and her sister. A proposal with Lana standing next to her fits that history. Family has always been in the frame for her, from the TLC years onward.
Us Weekly added the engagement to its running list of 2026 proposals, noting she got engaged in early October to her longtime boyfriend.
Two Months After Filing for Divorce
Pumpkin filed for divorce from Josh Efird two months before she debuted her relationship with Darrin, according to E! Online. She and Josh had been married for nearly six years. And Darrin is Josh’s cousin.
That is a complicated starting point for any couple.
Pumpkin and Josh share four children and, per E! Online, joint custody. So Darrin did not walk into a quiet life. He walked into a busy household, a recent split, and a family connection that runs straight back to her ex-husband. Plenty of relationships would buckle under one of those. This one had all three from the first month.
Two years later, there is a ring.
What She Wrote About Her Kids
Pumpkin did not write a post about Darrin alone. She wrote one about how he fits into the life she already had. In her TikTok, she thanked him for the way he supports her, the way he loves her, and the way he loves her kids. She also said he always lifts her up.
Mothers dating after a divorce tend to watch for one thing above everything else, and it is how a new partner treats the children. Romance is easy to fake for a few months. Showing up for someone else’s four kids, week after week, is not. Pumpkin listed it right alongside how he loves her, which says plenty about where she ranks it.
She called the last two years a wild ride, and added that it was a ride she would not want to take with anyone else.
What Pumpkin Says About Their Relationship
Pumpkin did not pretend it has all been smooth. She wrote that the couple have had many good times and made many memories, and then admitted they have had their disagreements too. She said she would never lie about that.
Most engagement posts skip that part. Hers leaned into it. Admitting the fights in the same breath as the proposal is a sign of someone who has been through a marriage already and is not interested in selling a fairy tale this time.
Her conclusion was that this love has always felt different from anything she had experienced before. Coming from a woman who was married for nearly six years, that line carries weight. She was not comparing Darrin to a high school crush. She was comparing him to a marriage.
She said she was excited for their future and for their family. Then she signed off with a pun. “The Future Mrs. Kitchens has a NICE RING to it.”
Neither has shared a wedding date.
