A man was left furious when he asked a passenger to swap seats with him on a flight so he could sit with his wife on her birthday.
Jay Kloss and his wife Zoe were traveling on a Virgin flight in the business class section, seated separately.
Sharing his uncomfortable experience on his TikTok, Jay from Melbourne revealed that he requested a man to swap seats with him as he wanted to sit with his wife, Zoe.
However, the man rudely refused. Jay shared his story on his social media and asked his follower if he was in the wrong to ask the man to exchange seats with him.
“Hey, would you mind moving so I could sit with my missus? It’s her birthday’,” he said. “And he just looks at me, he doesn’t respond.”
“I was like, ‘Is it possible if you switch to here?’ He was like, ‘No, I won’t, but I’ll sit here (Zoe’s window seat).”
Kloss added that his wife, Zoe, is not a ‘great flyer’ and gets super nauseous, so she always prefers to sit on a window seat.
“Either way, he’s either getting the exact same spot (but) just on the other side of the aisle. But he won’t take that, he’s like, ‘Nah, I’ll only move to here (Zoe’s window seat),'” Jay explained his frustration about the situation to his TikTok followers.
“So, he’ll make us sit on either side of the aisle, just for no reason. It’s the same seat so anyway, I’m like, ‘Bro, really? You sure you can’t swap seats with us?’ And he just doesn’t respond to me.”
Once the man refused Jay, his wife asked him again to switch seats with her husband.
“Zoe says: ‘Hey, excuse me, is it possible for us to switch seats, is there some sort of problem? It’s my birthday today, I’d like to sit with my partner,” said Jay.
“And he’s like, ‘Nah, no problem, just not moving.’ Like what the f**k? Am I missing something?”
“Can somebody explain to me, what the hell is going on here? It’s the same seat, just on a different side of the aisle.”
He said eventually, the passenger in the window seat with Jay offered his help and switched seats with Zoe so she could sit next to Jay.
Kloss said he was thankful to the man for his favor but also added that he was so angry at the other rude passenger that he wanted to slap him for his behavior.
Reacting to his now-viral video, many people expressed their views and not everyone was in Jay’s favor.
“Bro im sick of people asking to switch seats. Book the right seat first,” one said.
“Am I missing something did you book the wrong seats? He doesn’t have to move,” said another.
“it was the “same seat” to you but not to him. I always book and pay for a seat exactly where I want it. end of story,” a third commented.
“He may have chose that seat for a valid personal reason that he does not have to disclose to you!” someone wrote.
“You’re in the wrong, should have booked seats together in the first place,” said someone else.
“At the end of the day you shouldn’t expect anyone to move for you. Always determine seat availability before booking,” another commented.

I’m with the others on this one. You knew going in what the seating arrangements were. You cannot expect someone to just move at your whim and then get angry when they don’t. He paid for his seat the same as you and your wife did. Self-entitled much?
I book the seat I want. Therefore it is not up for grabs. PERIOD!!!
Why is it that the person asking for the seat change is usually looking to give you a middle seat or a seat in the center of a wide body in exchange for your window seat or your side section seat?
Never hurts to ask, but there is no blame if the individual queried refuses….
