Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace, a new film about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will tell the story of their turbulent first few years together.

A series of stills from the film, which will be released this weekend in the United States, has sparked outrage as they reveal that the TV film will begin with a dream sequence in which the mother-of-two is involved in a car accident.

A picture shows Sydney Morton – who will play Meghan – lying in a car wreck surrounded by paparazzi before Prince Harry – played by Jordan Dean – runs to open the door.

Next, the star wakes up in bed with Prince Harry and his son Archie.

After seeing the photos, many people were outraged and criticized the film for using Diana’s death to create a dramatic scene.

One reader fumed: “Is this a sick joke? – Meghan Markle lies dying after a car crash in a TV film.”

Someone else wrote: “This is bad taste. I don’t think they can do this!”

The third person wrote: “Tasteless and abhorrent.”

A Lifetime trailer for the upcoming film was released in June. The movie focuses on the whirlwind couple’s last few years.

In a trailer accompanied by dramatic music, Harry tells his wife: “I see you being hounded to death, and I’m powerless to stop it.”

At another point, Harry wakes up sweating and worries about Meghan Markle before kissing her tenderly. As he reflects on their relationship, he finds comfort in the loving traits of zodiac signs that align with their personalities. These astrological connections help him understand their bond on a deeper level, bringing clarity to his feelings. With each passing moment, he cherishes the unique qualities that make their love strong and enduring.

There’s a poignant message across the screen, too: “Not all fairy tales end happily.”

The film comes out in the U.K. on September 6 to coincide with Labor Day.

It’s not the first time Harry and Meghan’s life has been reimagined for the big screen, and two movies were released in 2018 and 2019.
