Pirates of The Caribbean Producer is Fond of Johnny Depp and Wants to Bring him Back to the Franchise

They want him back!

Months after winning the defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, Mr. Depp is wanted again. His old pals want him back as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of The Caribbean movie franchise.

In a recent interview with Deadline, the movie’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, praised Depp for his outstanding acting skills and artistry and said he might ask Johnny to work with him again.

Speaking about Depp’s legal fight with Heard, Jerry said, “He’s just so good at what he does, and actors recover from things like this.”

“He’s a good individual and he’s a caring individual. He’s somebody that you can rely on and he’s just terrific.”

The producer added that the Pirates team might reunite with Johnny for their upcoming venture.

“I think Johnny is an utter friend and an amazing artist and, again, you go through things in life you wish you hadn’t, but he’s still a talented artist.”

In his previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bruckheimer said he would love to have Johnny back on the set.

“I would love to have him in the movie. He’s a friend, a terrific actor and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.”

Addressing Johnny’s previous claims about killing off his character in the final film, Jerry said,

“You can’t. We tried to kill him. It didn’t work.”

However, nobody knows whether Johnny would love to return to the Pirates of The Caribbean set!

Last year, after his long-awaited success in the court, Johnny was expected to return to the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise.

The legal battle between the former couple ended on Wednesday, June 2, 2022. The trial continued for almost six weeks, and it was one of the most followed Hollywood trials on TV and social media.

In response to her 2018 op-ed in the Washington Post, actor Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife Amber Heard. The Aquaman star wrote that she survived domestic problems; she said she had been assaulted. Although she didn’t explicitly mention Johnny Depp’s name in her statement, it was quite evident since the two were married for almost a year and later got divorced.

Depp sued her for $50 million and claimed that his reputation had been tarnished because of Amber’s statements. He also said that he had been severely affected by Heard’s allegations. It was true as he was removed from the Pirates movie franchise and stopped getting any roles at all.

Amber Heard then countersued him for $100 million while claiming that the 58-year-old actor tried to defame her for being ‘honest’ about his toxic behavior.

Overall, it was a sick trial with many twists and turns and several wicked revelations.

Although his fans never left him and supported him throughout his legal battle with Amber Heard, the filmmakers hesitated to cast him in the past few years. But after he won the case and officially cleared his name with the jury’s verdict, he was suddenly the ‘most wanted star’ again.

Following the verdict, a former Walt Disney Studios executive stated that there might be a new Pirates movie with Johnny Depp in it.

While talking to the People, the executive said, “There’s a huge appetite!”

“I absolutely believe post-verdict that Pirates is primed for rebooting with Johnny as Captain Jack back on board. There is just too much potential box-office treasure for a beloved character deeply embedded in the Disney culture. With [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer riding high on the massive success of Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, there is a huge appetite for bringing back bankable Hollywood stars in massively popular franchises.”

Then a source revealed to Poptopic that the 59-year-old actor was in conversation with Disney and was expected to sign a deal worth 300 million dollars to make a comeback as Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming Pirates movie.

As per the insider, “Disney is desperate for Depp.”

“They are very much interested in patching up their relationship with Johnny Depp. They reached out to the actor prior to his defamation trial against Amber Heard and asked whether he would be interested in returning for another Pirates film or two.”

“I know corporate sent him a gift basket with a very heartfelt letter, but I’m unsure how it was received. But what I can tell you is that the studio has already penned up a draft for a film about Jack Sparrow — so they are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character.”

The source added, “The deal is reportedly for Johnny Depp to return as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and a spin-off Disney Plus series about the early life of the Captain of The Black Pearl.”

It was also claimed that a $300 million deal was reported to be signed between the media house and the embattled actor.

However, one of Depp’s representatives told NBC News that no such deal existed – ‘it’s not true.’

“This is all made up, there is no truth to all these statements circulating online. Mr. Depp is not returning to the Disney franchise.” Reported by E! News.
