Oops, he did not see that coming!
Delta Airlines passenger was left shocked when his MacBook Pro’s screen shattered mid-flight. The incident happened when podcast host Pat Cassidy was flying from Austin, Texas, to Los Angeles, California, on a Delta flight.
Taking to Twitter, he shared how the reclining seat in front of him caused his MacBook Pro’s screen to shatter, which according to him ‘ruined his livelihood.’
He wrote, “@Delta small note for the suggestion box, maybe have a little warning sign or someway to prevent my laptop from being destroyed when the person in front of me reclines their seat.”

He posted a photo of the cracked screen and explained how the damage left him with a barely usable laptop.
To make things worse, Cassidy added that the flight attendant showed him very little sympathy.
“I really appreciate that your flight attendant came over to tell me that the passenger in front of me “needs to be able to recline” and then asked him “if he was okay?” as if your seat hadn’t just ruined my livelihood.”
He further added, “@Delta Silver Medallion Member here, how many SkyMiles is a brand new MacBook Pro?”
Cassidy followed up with another tweet saying, “@Delta, let me know who I can email about this? You’ll know it’s me because the bottom of the email will read ‘sent from my iPhone’.”

The Twitter post quickly gained traction, and he later provided an update on what happened.
In the comments, some Twitter users wondered if Cassidy had brought the broken laptop onto the plane and took the photo later to try to get the airline to pay for a new MacBook Pro.
One user commented, “This is my biggest travel pet peeve. I think it’s rude to recline your seat.”
Another user replied, “I think it’s common sense not to open and lean your screen against the seat exactly for this reason.”
“It’s called a laptop for a reason,” one X user pointed out.
After Cassidy’s post went viral, a Delta customer service agent responded to him on X, asking, “Goodness! Did you speak to a gate agent or Red Coat about the damage when you got off the plane?”

They recommended that he fill out a complaint form “to have someone evaluate the damage and reach out to you.”
In a later update, Cassidy claimed, “Delta is offering me the equivalent of a $75 gift card and an explanation you’d give to a six-year-old. Cool.”
He also attached a screenshot of an email, apparently from Delta’s customer service team, which read:
“I’m sorry your laptop was broken due to another passenger reclining on your seat. It’s not fair when one person’s behavior affects another person. Please know that personal property damaged inflight as a result of a passenger action is not reimbursable. We regret the inconvenience this has caused you.”
The podcast host was also given 7,500 “bonus miles” to add to his SkyMiles account.
