The longest reigning monarch in British history breathed her last today at the Balmoral Castle. She was 96 years old and ruled over the country for 70 years.
On September 8, 2022, around 6 PM (GMT), the announcement was made from Buckingham Palace: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.“
“The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
Earlier today, BBC reported that Her Majesty The Queen was under medical supervision, and the members of The Royal Family have started gathering over bedside at her Scottish estate.
People worldwide started speculating if they should be prepared to receive any news regarding Her Majesty, and around 6 PM (GMT), it was announced that the Queen died peacefully.
Following her death, Prince Charles, who immediately became King, shared a heartfelt message for his late mother, saying:
“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.”
“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms, and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”
“During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”
The royal family released a statement confirming her passing: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
Last year, on April 9, 2021, her beloved husband, Prince Phillip – the Duke of Edinburgh, passed away at the age of 99.
‘He was buried in the Royal Vault at St George’s Chapel. However, he is expected to be moved so he can be laid to rest next to his wife of 73 years,’ per Unilad.
“In observance of a national period of mourning, the Queen’s funeral is anticipated as taking place in 10 days.”
“In theory, Operation Unicorn will go into action because the Queen passed away at her Balmoral home in Scotland.”
“This means Her Majesty will be placed on a royal train and taken from Aberdeen to Edinburgh, before briefly going to the the Palace of Holyroodhouse and St Giles’ cathedral, before she is finally transported back to London.” The outlet reported.
“The state funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey.”
A two-minute silence will also be observed across the country at midday in remembrance of the late Queen.
She will be buried in the King George VI Memorial Chapel, where her father, King George IV, Queen Mother, and sister, Princess Margaret, are resting forever.
