It has been reported that Johnny Depp will make a guest appearance at Rihanna’s fourth edition of the Savage X Fenty fashion show.
According to TMZ, the 59-year-old actor will not take to the show’s runway but will make a brief cameo in Volume 4 of the show on November 9. Depp will be the first male celebrity to be featured in the spotlight moment of the fourth installation.
According to Variety, “his brief cameo follows in the vein of other celeb moments, like Cindy Crawford’s appearance in the 2021 Savage X Fenty showcase.
“Other confirmed celebrities for the “Vol. 4” show include Rihanna herself, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” actor Winston Duke, “Abbott Elementary” Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph, Marvel’s “Shang-Chi” star Simu Liu, “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson, Irina Shayk, Marsai Martin and performances by Burna Boy and Anitta.”
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor has already filmed his part and is reportedly very excited to collab with the Love on the Brain singer.
Savage X Fenty Vol.4 will be premiered on Amazon Prime this coming Wednesday, November 9.
Johnny’s appearance in the fashion show comes after his bitter legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard where he was accused of causing physical and mental harm to the actress.
In 2018, Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for writing a defamatory op-ed in the Washington Post. In her op-ed, the Rum Diary actress wrote that she was a domestic abuse survivor. Although she didn’t name and shame Depp in particular, it was apparent she was talking about him.
In the aftermath of her statements, Johnny was removed from the Fantastic Beast franchise and called out by thousands for being violent.
After he filed a case against Heard, she countersued him by calling her a manipulative liar. The trial lasted almost six weeks, and in June 2022, the court decided in favor of Depp.
In Fairfax, Virginia, seven jurors favored the 59-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor and awarded him over $10 million in damages.
It was determined that the 36-year-old actress had defamed Depp for the domestic abuse claims she made in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.
The court ordered the Aquaman actress to pay $8 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in damages; however, she claimed she did not have the funds to cover the total amount.
Many people didn’t appreciate news of Depp featuring in Rihanna’s 4th show, and the Barbadian singer is under severe criticism for choosing him for her show.
“if Rihanna wanted to ACTUALLY make a social statement about male victims of abuse, there were so many better options for her Fenty show… #FireDepp #FentyBeauty,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“I love Rihanna. LOVE. I go to bat for her talent and her genius all the time. I own so many Fenty beauty products, not because I love Rihanna but because they’re actually AMAZING & I would buy without a celebrity name attached. But this sucks big time,” said another.
“I am so disappointed. Yes, she doesn’t owe me anything, yes, she doesn’t care, yes, cancel culture doesn’t exist. But it’s just me, my opinion, my admiration for her that is disappointed. Just my feeling,” another said.
“Johnny Depp has been embraced as a hero by unhinged right-wing misogynist extremists, and now he’s been invited to appear in the@SavageXFenty show. Never expected such a powerful woman to succumb to the #MeToo backlash. Really disappointing @rihanna,” someone said.
What are your thoughts about this news? Do you support Rihanna’s decision of casting Johnny for her upcoming fashion show? Let us know your thoughts.
I love that Rihanna is doing this for Johnny Depp. He was found innocent of AH claims. She showed no evidence of her claims either. Why shouldn’t Johnny have his life back? Why is it people think Brad Pitt should stroll along with his life with no repercussions when there is FBI reports on him. But you people think Johnny is so bad with no evidence of it? Wow, really?
