Saudi Arabia Intends to Build the World’s Largest Turtle-Shaped Floating City

The mighty Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has decided to build a gigantic turtle-shaped floating city that costs around $8 billion to complete.

As reported by CNN, the floating city would be constructed in the shape of a turtle-shaped vessel that will spread across an area of 550 meters (length) and 610 meters wide and accommodate nearly 60,000 people.

Basically, they are planning to build a massive superyacht – a terayacht titled ‘Pangeos’ named after a subcontinent Pangea, a subcontinent that existed about 200 to 335 million years ago.

According to Daily Mail, “The floating city would accommodate 60,000 guests and even include a runway for planes as well as helicopter pads, Italian design studio Lazzarini said.”

“The turtle-shaped vessel would be 1,800 ft long and 2,000 ft wide and take eight years to build. If the concept is realized, it will become the world’s largest floating structure ever built.”

The makers are currently looking for funding to initiate this project, and if they succeed, it will be the largest floating building ever made and will take at least eight years to finish the construction.

The Italian designers suggest a giant ‘shipyard’ will have to be made for this venture.

According to Lazzarini, “A Terayacht needs a Terashipyard: the conception of a similar sized vessel involves the realization of a specific shipyard/dam infrastructure that floods to levitate the terayacht when it will be launched.”

“The imagined Terashipyard infrastructure s 650 meters wide and 600 meters long, providing direct access to the sea.”

This colossal floating structure will be powered by nine high-temperature superconducting electric motor engines, each with 16800 horsepower.

“Pushed from a jet drive transmission, the tera-structure will be able to cruise at a speed of five knots,” per Lazzarini.

“While sailing, the large wings will gain energy from the breaking of the waves and Pangeos will cruise perpetually without emissions around the planet Earth seas.”

“Further, the rooftop area is lined with solar panels, which provide part of the necessary clean energy to power the terayacht.”

The terayacht will be comprised of nine different bows, which will further be divided into several blocks and look like an actual building in the shape of a massive floating turtle.

This enormous building structure will need a special place to be constructed, and currently, no such place exists, as per the latest

This enormous building structure will need a special place to be constructed, and currently, no such place exists, as per the latest CNN report.

“The designers have posited Saudi Arabia as a location. Around one square kilometer of the sea would need to be dredged and a circular dam constructed before the building could commence. The designers have earmarked a space at King Abdullah Port, 81 miles north of Jeddah, as the ideal location.”

CNN also revealed that the Pangeos, once built, will not stay still and have a set itinerary. Instead, it will cruise around, and the people on board will experience a luxurious voyage perfect for any Bond villain attempting to take over the world. Maybe? Let’s hope they find those eight billion dollars soon.
