So, there was no Dog Fight, eh?
Earlier this week, we received the news that the Rocky Balboa star Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Stallone were parting ways after a long marriage of two and a half decades.
“It’s over. Sylvester Stallone and wife Jennifer Stallone (née Flavin) have split, as Jennifer filed for divorce from Sylvester on August 19,” Closer Weekly confirmed. “The couple is calling it quits after 25 years of marriage.”
After the news became official, people started speculating on the reasons behind their split. Some sources claim that the Stallones conflicted over getting a dog, and things escalated.
TMZ reported that Sylvester adopted a Rottweiler named Dwight, but his now ex-wife wasn’t pleased with him getting a dog.
“Adding fuel to the fire, many noticed that Stallone covered up a large tattoo he had of Flavin on his bicep with a tattoo of Butkus, his Rottweiler from Rocky, just days before Flavin actually filed for divorce,” per Newsweek.
Earlier this month, Stallone shared a video on his Instagram and introduced his new furry friend to his 15 million fans.
So incredibly happy with my newly acquired four-legged friend ”DWIGHT,” my character’s name from the Series, keep punching and keep barking !!! Thank you very much to Trainer and breeder Dave Smith and his wonderful wife !!! He wrote under his video.
However, the John Rambo star denied all the rumors and said that its all mere hearsay.
“We did not end the relationship on such a trivial argument,” he told TMZ on Wednesday, August 24. “We just went in different directions. I have the highest respect for Jennifer. I will always love her. She’s an amazing woman. She’s the nicest human being I’ve ever met.”
According to Daily Mail, tensions were increasing between the couple, and news of their marriage being on the rocks was circulated on social media last week.
“The Rocky star has just had a giant tattoo of Jennifer on his right bicep covered – with a picture of Butkus, Rocky’s bull mastiff from the hit movies.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer also hinted about their split on her Instagram, where she shared a picture with her three daughters.
“These girls are my priority,” she captioned her photo on August 10. “Nothing else matters. The 4 of us forever.”
Flavin, who is 22 years younger than her than Sylvester, has also unfollowed him on Instagram.
