Bryce Langston is a popular YouTuber who runs a YouTube channel called Living Big in a Tiny House. He describes himself as a passionate person about small space design, and his entire channel centers around featuring tiny homes that make the most out of their limited space.

He writes in his channel’s description which currently has more than 4.3 million subscribers and 654 million views:

“Join me on my travels as I journey to find the very best tiny homes, alternative dwellings and stories of downsized, eco-friendly living,”

One of the most popular videos on his channel features a 5 x 20-ft. home that’s made almost entirely out of recycled shipping containers.

Bryce explains in the opening parts of the video:

“With all of the craziness in the world today, more people than ever are dreaming of escaping the cities and going back to nature,”

“And today, here in the Coromandel, we are about to meet one woman who has done exactly that by building a spectacular off-the-grid shipping container home.”

Sustainable Innovation – Breathtaking Views

Bryce describes the woman in his opener as “Rosie,” whose home is situated in the middle of a conservation block in New Zealand. Her house was designed to take full advantage of the beauty of her surrounding environment.

But one of the most exciting things about this home is that it’s entirely off the grid. That means that the house relies completely on solar power and rainwater to sustain itself. The home is also fitted with a vermicomposting toilet.

Rosie explained as she talked about her decision to move into this unique home:

“I sold my house in Auckland and was looking for some land,”

“I just saw it on Trade Me… I came down that day… As soon as I got down from the car, I said ‘Yeah, I need to live here.’”

The house is situated in the middle of a large conservation filled with lush greens and the raw beauty of nature.

Rosie talked about the land that she built her house on:

“So, Mahakirau Forest Estate is a reserve… privately-owned reserve we’ve been given status for sanctuary,”

“It’s 25 lots, so there are 1,100 acres. At 23 acres, mine’s the smallest out of all the lots. It’s all about guardianship and looking after the nature and the creatures.”

Creative Design on Another Level

The whole theme of sustainability is evident throughout the house. Since Rosie is surrounded by nature, she incorporates many natural design elements in different parts of her home.

The house is perfectly positioned so that she has a perfect view of the sunrise and sunset every single day. There’s also a lot of natural light that flows through the home, illuminating its raw and natural beauty.
