A woman refused to exchange seats with a teenage boy on a flight, so his furious mom threw a fit and cursed the lady throughout the flight.
Surya Grag, a content creator on TikTok, shared a video in which she explained her flight experience and sparked debate on the platform.
In her now-viral video, Garg called the grump mother the “absolute worst person” she has ever met.
“I feel like this has been a big debate on TikTok recently, which is like, if you’re sitting in a seat and someone with a family comes up to you and says, ‘hey, will you switch?’ — do you switch or not?” she said in her video.
She said that she usually has no problem switching seats with people with little kids, no matter how annoying it could sometimes be, but she usually swaps with parents with small children.
“My philosophy is like, if it’s a mom and a dad or like a mom and little kids, even though it’s annoying, and you’d hope they would have planned better, obviously, I’m gonna give up my seat, you have little children.”
However, the teenage boy was almost 17 years old and over six feet tall in this particular scenario.
“This was not her child. He’s her kid, but like, he’s an adult,” she told her followers.
Surya explained that the woman wanted her to give up her window seat for a middle seat a few rows behind, so she politely refused, adding that she had paid extra money for her window seat.
“This woman made the nastiest face at me I’ve ever experienced, sitting down next to me in the middle seat, and I kid you not, under her breath for the entire flight she kept muttering profanities at me,” she said.
At the end of her clip, Surya asked her followers if she was the one who was wrong in that situation.
“Like if I was the one wrong here… I need someone to tell me.”
“For real, like was I wrong?” she asked.
Garg’s video received more than 1 million views on TikTok with over 4500 comments.
Most comments were in her favor, and people said she was not the wrong person in this situation as she paid extra money for her seat, and the woman’s son was not a little child, so she should not have made a fuss about it.
“The way she reacted is precisely why you should not give up your seat. Good job for sticking up for yourself,” one said.
“I would have called over the flight attendant. Not the entire flight!” another added.
“I will ONLY ever switch for an upgrade (closer to the front, middle to window), etc,” a third commented.
“No I’m glad u said no,” added another.
“No you weren’t. I’m a mom. I have an 11&14 daughters. When we flight I pay extra for us to sit together. Every time. Bc it’s my responsibility to make,” someone wrote.
“You are not wrong whatsoever, and I worry for her son in every way,” said someone else.
