Recently, an American woman sparked an online debate among users by saying that airlines should have totally children-free flights so that passengers could travel in peace.
Morgan Lee, a 24-year-old woman from Florida, took to TikTok and posted a video where she shared her experience of a terrible flight where a child kept crying and kicking her seat from behind while his mother slept.
“Why isn’t there such a thing as adult-only flights? I would pay so much money [for that],” Lee said in her video.
“The flight was three hours, and I listened to this the entire time. I have noise-canceling headphones, the child was well over five years old, and they sat directly behind me while kicking my chair as the mother slept.” She added.
‘The flight was 3 hours, and I listened to this the entire time. #travel’, the caption read.
Lee’s video has received more than 738K views until now, with almost 60K likes and 22K comments.
Some users strongly agreed with her opinion, while others got offended and criticized her for lacking empathy and grace.
“Guys, you don’t get it. Her comfort is more important than anyone else’s”, a comment read.
“I don’t have kids, but even I have the maturity and grace to accept my situation, especially when there are children involved.” Said another.
“Poor you. My heart goes out to you and the number of hours you endured another human’s cries. I hope you’re better now.” a third wrote.
“And this is why people/parents/mums have anxiety when leaving the house. Because no grace is given.” A fourth penned.
On the contrary, some people came out to her defense and said that Morgan was right and people were just acting out for no reason.
“As a parent, I 100% agree. I would love to be on an airplane and not get dirty looks or grunts from angry people that don’t like kids/noise.” Wrote one mother.
“I am a mother, and I agree! I would pay more for an adult-only flight. Why is everyone so pressed?? She isn’t suggesting to throw them off the board.” Said another.
One TikToker said that parents should realize that sometimes their kids make a lot of noise in public spaces, and not everyone can deal with this.
“All the commenters are the ones who let their kids scream for 5 hours like it doesn’t stress 200 other people out. Whatever.”
“Idk why you’re getting hate. You aren’t giving dirty looks/yelling at anyone. You’re just saying you’d pay for a child-free flight. People need to chill.” Someone else wrote.
According to LADbible, ‘a 2017 survey confirmed that loads of people want the same thing as Morgan.’
In fact, most parents who took part believed that planes should have separate sections for people to relax and take some alone time during long flights.
‘Some international airlines such as Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Scoot Airlines, and IndiGo have already introduced kid-free zones.’
