I just want you to know that I wouldn’t be where I am now if it weren’t for you. I just want you to know that I wouldn’t have known the happiness that I know now if you weren’t in my life. I wouldn’t be so stable and content with my life at this moment if you hadn’t done for me what you did this year. You did so much to make my 2018 better. You have done so much to make this year not just bearable, you made it beautiful.
You didn’t just make this life a lot easier to live; you made this life an absolute pleasure. And I don’t want you to ever think that I take all of your efforts for granted. I don’t want you to think that I’m not grateful for everything that you are and everything that you’ve done. I’m very much aware of just how bad my life would be without you in it. I am very much aware of how much value, joy, color, and music you managed to bring into my 2018. Because of you, my spirits have been lifted and they consider to soar. Because of you, my life has structure, meaning, fulfillment, and zeal. Because of you, I am happy to be walking the face of this earth. I am happy to be alive. And you played a huge role in that.
But this time, it’s your turn. It’s time for you to start treating yourself better regardless if it’s this year or the next. You need to know that I’m going to be here for you as well. I will be here to hug you whenever you need to be comforted by an embrace. You have to know that you don’t have to always be strong just for other people. Sometimes, it’s important for you to be strong for yourself. Remember that you are not some empty vessel. You are a genuine human being and you are deserving of all the best things that life has to offer.
I hope that you are able to find beauty in your life in the way that you allowed for me to find beauty in mine. I hope that you are able to fall in love with yourself the same way that I fell in love with you. I hope that you realize just how amazing, wild, inspiring, and beautiful your spirit really is. I hope that you eventually learn to say goodbye to all of the self-loathing that you have been carrying within you all this time. I hope that you are able to just let go of all your previous mistakes and all of your failures. I hope that you are able to just move on from the things that aren’t meant for you. I hope that you are able to pick yourself up every time you stumble and fall. And if you have a hard time finding the strength to go on in life, please don’t hesitate to give me a call. I promise that I will be here for you. I promise that I will actually show up for you the same way that you always did for me.
You always gave me perspective all throughout the year – and this was a valuable perspective that I desperately needed to stay sane in my life. And I want to be able to do the same for you. Please listen when I say that you need time to breathe. You don’t always have to be working. You don’t always have to be hustling. You don’t always have to be keeping yourself busy. Sometimes, it’s okay for you to just take a step back for a bit and breathe. Think about the life that you have now and the many ways that you have made an impact on the lives of others – of people like me. I want you to think about where you’re going and how wonderful your future is going to be. I want you to take some time to really think about your strengths and how you can maximize them as you move forward in life. I want you to take some time to really think about your weaknesses and what you can do to offset them and minimize their impacts. But most of all, I want you to take a step back and just breathe in all of the happiness that you are deserving of. Forgive yourself of all that you’ve done wrong and embrace the parts of yourself that are beautiful.
You shouldn’t be wasting too much of your time dwelling on the past. Whether you’ve had a rough couple of years or not, know that the upcoming year is going to be a great one for you. And I know that that is going to be the case because I’m going to make sure of it. In the coming year, I will make sure to be there for you the same way that you were there for me.
