As tensions mount in Ukraine, love still exists and will continue to exist. This report was covered by CNN and is about two people who didn’t let anyone come in the way of their love.
Sviatoslav Fursin & Yaryna Arieva had beautiful plans for their wedding in May 2022. Fursin is a 24-year-old software engineer, while Arieva is 21 and is a deputy at the Kyiv City Council. The pair met in 2019 and had big plans for their wedding day.
But when conditions became worse in Ukraine, they decided to get married as soon as possible. As air sirens took over the skies of Ukraine, this couple stood together and got married.
Yaryna Arieva told CNN:
“That was very scary,”
“It’s the happiest moment of your life, and you go out, and you hear that,”
Their original plan was on May 6th, 2022, where the couple would have a beautiful and romantic wedding at a restaurant. Yaryna told CNN:
“Just us and the river and beautiful lights,”
While talking to CNN about her husband, Arieva said he’s her:
“closest friend on the Earth”
Being hopeful about a better tomorrow and being able to celebrate their big day as they intended, she told CNN:
“Maybe they (Russia) will just get out from our country and we will have an ability to celebrate normally,”
It’s heartbreaking, yet incredibly inspirational, to see these two get married amidst such a difficult time in their homeland – but as this story proves, love will always prevail. The couple’s journey has not been without its challenges, including a twoyearold engagement ring mishap that nearly derailed their plans. However, their determination to overcome every obstacle showcases not just their love, but also the resilience of the human spirit. As they exchanged vows, it was clear that their bond had only grown stronger through adversity.
