Recently a US-based couple went viral on social media when people called them out for having a huge age difference between them.
69-year-old Dave and 27-year-old Jackie have been married for five years; the couple first met in 2016 when Dave visited the Philippines – Jackie’s home country.
According to Daily Mail, the duo first interacted on an online dating website, and later Dave asked Jackie out, so they met for a coffee date.
Dave and Jackie have a joint account on TikTok with the username @dave_jackie2818. They have more than 35000 followers, and their account bio says: “Love is endless, and love has no age limit.”
Two days ago, they shared a video on their TikTok and explained how they met.
“Jackie and I first met via an internet site called Cherryblossoms. I was in Cebu in the Philippines at the time when I was using that website, and I noticed Jackie’s profile,” said Dave.
“I sent her a message and said I liked her profile and I was interested in meeting her.”
Jackie said of their first date, “I gave him my phone number, and the next day we met up at Starbucks, and he gave me a chocolate chip cookie. Then we went to Jollibee’s for lunch.”
“Jackie was a little bit shy back then, and she was tired after working the graveyard shift at work, so on that lunch date, I ended up doing 95 percent of the talking,” added Dave.
“You could feel there was enough of a connection there to want to get together again.” He continued. “So Jackie and I got together a few more times before going back to the US.”
“That was the beginning of a wonderful relationship that is still going strong.”
Dave and Jackie are quite active on TikTok and regularly post videos online. They are very happy as a couple. However, some trolls on the internet make fun of their relationship and often criticize Jackie for marrying Dave because of his money and Green Card.
“I feel like I just committed a crime watching this.” A user wrote on one of their romantic videos on the platform.
“I feel a bit sick,” another commented.
On the contrary, some other people love their relationship and keep showering them with lovely comments.
“Age is just the number as long as you love each other,” one follower wrote.
“I mean she seems to really love him! They’re very playful and funny! Love is an unexplained phenomenon,” someone commented.
“I can’t believe people are still harassing you about your age difference. You are a beautiful couple. Makes no difference. Correct!!” another said.
Jackie said in one of her videos that people have also called her a gold digger for marrying Dave. “I have been called a ‘gold-digger by our haters. These people just don’t understand love and they certainly don’t know anything about a REAL connection.”
“So there is a 42-year age gap. She’s 27 and I’m 69 and to us, it doesn’t make a bit of difference.” Dave added.
Despite receiving some harsh and hateful comments, the couple often shares their dancing and hiking videos together.
