You should never have to feel ashamed for being single at this day and age. In fact, being able to maintain your independence and self-sufficiency with integrity and poise is something to be very proud of. There is nothing wrong with choosing to maintain a single status in life especially when the alternative is to be in a relationship that doesn’t really add value to your life. You should never have to settle for being in a relationship with someone just so you can escape the single life. That’s never a noble (nor is it a sustainable) way to go about entering a relationship with a person. Remember that being single doesn’t mean that you are a repulsive and unattractive person. Just because you’re single doesn’t mean that there are too many things that are wrong with you and that’s why no one wants to get with you. A lot of times, people stay single because they choose to never just settle for any kind of love. They are waiting for the kind of love that is deserving of their time, effort, commitment, and attention. And that’s not something to be ashamed of at all.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to wait for that one person who is going to fulfill all the dreams that you’ve had about love and romance. There is no shame in wanting to wait for that knight in shining armor that you’ve read so much about in story books and fairytales. It just shows that you believe in the magic power of love and that you’re willing to be patient for that kind of love. A lot of people are going to accuse you of being a little too choosy or for having unreasonable standards but you shouldn’t pay them any mind. They don’t own your life nor do they have the slightest idea of what it is like to be you. They don’t understand that you don’t mind waiting around for that special someone to come along because you’ve got plenty of things going on for you in your life. You have so many things that you want to accomplish on your own. There are so many goals that you have set for yourself. There is so much growth and development that you have to undergo before you can be sure that you’re ready to take on the challenges of the world. You have yet to really figure out what it means to miss someone; to ache whenever they’re not around to bring light and color into your life. You don’t know the pain of being away from the person that you love the most in the world.
You still haven’t met that person who actually makes you understand just how important it is that you exist in his life. You haven’t met that guy who would bend over backwards just to have you smiling from ear to ear on a daily basis. You still have yet to encounter the man who would love you at all costs regardless of what happens in his life or yours.
Everyone knows that time is the most valuable thing in this world. It is not something that can be bought or bargained. That’s why a lot of people will refuse to give their time up for other people. That is also why you are choosing to take your time with your decision to fall in love. You want to make sure that the person you’re going to fall in love with is actually someone who will make your time worthwhile. You are waiting for that one guy who would willingly give up his time just to keep you in his life as well. You are still waiting for that person who walks into your life and makes you immediately feel like you are the priority to his.
At the end of the day it’s all about how a person is going to make you feel. And everyone knows that you can’t force yourself to feel a certain way about someone. You can’t compel yourself to be in love when you know that you aren’t. Love has to come to you in a natural and organic way and you can’t force it to move when it doesn’t want to. So don’t worry about waiting. Don’t worry about being single for now. Love is going to come to you, and when it does, it will be the best thing you will ever know.
