Wife Ghosted by American Husband a Day After He was Granted Aussie Visa

An American man left his wife only one day after he was granted his Australian visa.

This is the story of Isabelle Glastonbury, 31, who met Michael in 2015 in Dallas, Texas, and fell in love with him. The duo got along really well and started dating.

After a year of a whirlwind romance, the couple got engaged and moved to Australia in 2018. They got married in a fairytale wedding at the Boathouse in Palm Beach. Isabelle’s parents bore all the expenses and paid nearly $50,000 for the extravagant wedding ceremony only for their daughter to be happy.

After their marriage, Michael applied for his Aussie visa, and nearly two and a half years later, his visa got approved in January 2021. Isabelle’s parents also funded the visa fee and all the other expenses.

A day after the approval of his visa, Michael abandoned Isabelle and left their home without telling anyone.

“I got home, and literally 90 per cent of his stuff had disappeared,” the distraught wife told Daily Mail.

“I had this sinking feeling…“I tried logging into our immigration accounts, I had been locked out of everything, my credit cards were maxed-out, and I was blocked on his phone, none of my calls or messages going through.”

According to Isabelle, after Michael ghosted her, she kept looking for him and asked everyone in their mutual circle if anyone knew where he could have gone.

“He ghosted everyone,” she said. “All of our mutual friends, the best man from our wedding and his own family, no-one knew where he was.”

She added that Michael had become very distant and reserved months before he disappeared and stopped sharing anything with her.

“He had become distant and started disappearing at night, I felt like I was married to a complete stranger,” she said. “I don’t know what his plan was, none of it made sense.”

“I think we got married, he got over it and was too chickensh*t to say anything to my face but just wanted to stay in Australia.”

She continued, “So many people reported him to immigration and nothing happened. I have such a problem with the visa situation, literally people can leave and have no repercussions or be forced to have any accountability.”

A month after ghosting her, Michael briefly met Isabelle in February 2021 and told her he left her because he wanted to be single again.

“Just the other day my friend told me Michael got married again – almost a year to the day we officially divorced. He was my best friend, my ride or die. He fooled everyone, including me.”

After moving on from Michael and her heartbreak, Isabelle married again – she rekindled her romance with her high school sweetheart, Max, and the couple welcomed their first baby, Mason, three months ago.

“I’m in a good place, I’ve wanted to share my story for a while now because you never think it’ll happen to you until it does,” she told Daily Mail.

“Don’t be blind, because I’m sure I could have seen the signs before this happened and I just ignored it, you never really know who you’re sleeping next to.”
