Will Smith is seemingly looking at the funny side of his infamous Oscar slap.
On March 28, 2022, on the eve of the 94th Academy Awards, the world witnessed an iconic slap by Will Smith. When presenter Chris Rock joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, initially, everyone laughed, including Smith himself. But a few moments later, the actor stood up from his seat and went on stage, where he smacked Chris and said, “keep my wife’s name outta your ****ing mouth.”
After the smacking, the 54-year-old actor came under heavy criticism and backlash, and most people, including his fellow actors and colleagues, bashed him for reacting so aggressively.
After the event, Smith, 54, released a statement and apologized to Rock for his extreme reaction to his joke. The actor took to his Instagram and wrote,
“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear, and I reacted emotionally.”
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line, and I was wrong. I am embarrassed, and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness,” Will said in his statement.
“I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees, and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress.”
Yesterday, the Men in Black star posted a video on his TikTok and poked fun at the slap.
In his video, Smith reacted to a woman’s video about an “absolutely unhinged exercise.”
“I’m gonna tell you something f**king crazy. This literally, it sounds insane, but it will change your life. And by change your life, I mean it will make your life so much more interesting and fun,” the woman said in her clip.
“Did you know that you can pick any object, look at it, and ask it what it thinks of you?” she asked.
“So, for example, you can pick up a pen and ask it how it sees you or what it thinks of you, and you will get an answer in your mind from your intuition. You can ask your car what it thinks of you. You can even ask money what it thinks of you.”
Listening to the woman, Smith picked up his Oscar award and acted like he was about to ask a question from the trophy.
The actor’s expressions said all about what he would have asked from his Oscar award.
Will Smith’s funny video clip went viral on TikTok and was viewed by over a million people.
Looking at the comment section, people are enjoying Will’s joke.
“Least he’s got a sense of humor,” one commented.
“Award- “Why u do that will?” another joked.
“you don’t deserve me” says the Oscar,” another commented.
“If you can’t laugh at yourself right lol love it,” someone said.
“Somethings are just understood,” wrote another.
“Hahaha that is gold!!!!!!” another said.
