A 20-year-old body positivity advocate has hit out at men who hate body hair and asked people to ‘embrace the fur’ because it’s natural and there’s nothing wrong with having a hairy body.
Spencer Barbosa, who has over 8.5 million followers on TikTok and 1.4 million on Instagram, often shares her unedited and unfiltered pictures on social media and motivates her followers to embrace their natural bodies ‘like a boss.’
Barbosa, who lives in Ontario, said she had had hairy legs since she was only seven years old. However, she refuses to consider them ‘gross,’ ‘masculine,’ or ‘unhygienic.’
“Body hair – let’s talk about it. So recently, on my For You Page I have seen a lot of men adding their unwanted opinions – as they always do – on women’s bodies,” she said on TikTok.
“Now I’m Portuguese, I’m hairy, I will always be hairy because I will always be Portuguese. I have had hairy legs since the age of seven, I have been stealing tweezers from my mom since the age of seven to pluck my moustache.”
The influencer, 20, added that there is nothing wrong with having body hair, just like there is nothing wrong with shaving your body hair.
Barbosa said it is totally up to people to decide what they want and how they want their bodies to look like. However, she wants people to stop apologizing for having hair bodies because why should they?!
“Now it wasn’t until this year that I caught myself “apologizing” for my hairy legs like why the hell was I apologizing? If you want to have hairy legs this summer, have hairy legs this summer and if you despise hair and you don’t want hair on your body, remove the hair on your body.”
Spencer continued, “You being hairy is not an inconvenience to me. Having body hair is not unhygienic or masculine. It literally grows on your body.”
The young influencer and digital creator is often flooded with loads of supportive comments. Her followers love her for being real and genuine, unlike most people who always edit themselves on social media for likes and clout.
“Hair is literally natural, it’s going to grow,” one follower commented on her TikTok clip.
“Bruh hair is fine, the only thing I can say is that if you’re annoyed by your hair, you decide what you do with it. It’s no one else’s business,” a second said.
“Don’t apologize for having it, just say “sorry it bothers you” and just laugh,” a third added.
Meanwhile, someone wrote on one of her latest Instagram posts, “I rarely see girls who aren’t skinny and toned or overweight on Instagram at all anymore, really nice to see someone with my body type for once.”
“Stay you at all times. I love your content. So real and unfiltered. You inspire men and women around the world,” said someone else.
