A US woman gave birth to five miracle babies after losing two.
On February 16, Shawn and Haylee Ladner from Mississippi became parents to five adorable babies, quintuplets born after the couple survived two miscarriages.
The chances of having quintuplets are rare – 1 in 60 million, and this couple has been blessed after losing all hope.
According to PEOPLE, “Haylee and Shawn Ladner, of Purvis, welcomed their five new babies — including four identical girls and one boy — at the Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants on Feb. 16, according to a press release from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.”
“All five babies — Adalyn Elizabeth, Everleigh Rose, Malley Kate, Magnolia Mae, and Jake Easton — were born via Cesarean section at 28 weeks and one day, the hospital said on Friday.”
The pair always wanted a large family with lots of children, but they had no idea it would happen like this.
After surviving two miscarriages, the couple underwent IUI fertility treatment.
“Haylee and Shawn conceived via intrauterine insemination (IUI). The hospital said one egg split into four parts — creating the identical quadruplets — while another remained intact and grew into their son,” PEOPLE reported.
Haylee, who is a middle school teacher at Oak Grove Middle School, said she couldn’t even dream of becoming this lucky.
“It is the biggest blessing of my entire life because I did not think that it would be me,” she told WLBT News.
“I felt that I would not even be able to have one or I would be lucky to even have one.”
When Haylee became pregnant, she noticed that her pregnancy hormone numbers were super high. However, she thought she was going to have twins as they had two eggs.
When Haylee and Shawn went to see their doctor for a checkup, they were told they would have quintuplets.
“There’s five?” Haylee asked the doctor. “How is this possible?”
Meanwhile, Shawn asked the doctor to count again.
The Mississippi couple worked closely with their gynecologist, Dr. Morris, throughout their pregnancy and took all the steps according to the doctor’s instructions.
“On Jan. 11, Haylee was admitted to the hospital so her doctor could monitor her, according to Friday’s news release.”
“Five weeks later, the mom gave birth after “showing signs of preterm labor,” Dr. Morris said.”
The couple documented their ‘extraordinary’ pregnancy journey on their YouTube channel, ‘Five Little Ladners.’
Before the arrival of their babies, the happy father-to-be said,
“I don’t know if you are fully prepared for five kids that’s a lot but, we’re doing our best.”
When asked if they are going to have more children after having five miracle babies, Shawn said, “Definitely not…five is enough.”
The couple also set up their GoFundMe page to raise funds for the medical care of Haylee, who went through a lot of treatments in the hospital before giving birth to the babies due to their regular hospital visits; Shawn missed many days at work and was not paid. Hence, they wanted people to help them a little, so they could cherish their miracle babies without worrying about their expenses.
