Woman Refuses to Give Up 1A Airplane Seat So Teen Could Sit With Their Family

A TikToker sparked online debate after refusing to give up her A1 plane seat for a teen who wanted to sit with her mother.

Sabra Zaraa, who goes by the username @lifewithdrsabra on TikTok, shared a short clip of herself on a flight and wrote,

“POV: Flight agent asks me if I want to give up my 1A seat so a child sits with their family.”

In the caption of her video, Sabra revealed that she didn’t let the 13-year-old child sit with her mother as she purchased her dream seat by spending a lot of money.

“That’s a no from me dawg would you have given up your seat? Also they ended up finding a solution so no, i am not a terrible human being. Also the child was like 13,” she captioned.

The clip was viewed by over 9 million people on TikTok, including parents who applauded Zaraa for not giving up her seat.

Some people in the comment section maintained that people should always plan their journeys properly and book plane tickets in advance, taking care of the things such as the whole family sitting together and shouldn’t bother other passengers or expecting them to move seats for them.

“why isn’t their first instinct is to just switch the child with one of her parents so they could be with a guardian… lmao,” one wrote.

“if they want to switch seats in Economy, I would consider it. But if I paid extra for comfort, hell no! attendant should be ashamed to even try,” a second wrote.

“I always reply, I paid $X amount for this seat, do you have venmo or cash? It’s always a no after that. A upgraded seat paid by me is not free lol,” a third commented.

“As a parent that’s up to me to make sure my family sit together not at the expense of someone else, I would never dare ask some1 to move,” a fourth added.

“Good for you! If they wanted their kid next to them they should’ve booked adjacent seats,” said another.

“Why didn’t the Parents trade their First Class seats to the people whoever was next to their kid in coach?” someone asked.

“I wonder if some families actualy on purpose buy the cheapest tickets, to plan to ask someone for their seat “i got kids, pls move” said someone else.

  1. It was inconsiderate to even ask her to move they wouldn’t have even tried that on a city bus

  2. If I had paid extra for a seat I would only guve it up if I’d receive an instant cash refund plus some extra if the other seat is less comfortable for me. And whether the other seat is less comfortable or not is solely up to my decision with no discussion at all. Period!

  3. Parents who deliberately don’t buy their children seats adjacent their own and then expect strangers to give up the seats that they paid for, are societal leeches. They prey on others to avoid their financial and parental responsibilities.
