Tony, who lives in Bradford, has been married to Lorna for the past ten years, with whom he has two daughters, one six years old and the other one is only three. He recently fell in love with a 22-year-old Ukrainian girl named Sofiia Karkadym, who had moved into the couple’s home just ten days ago after fleeing her hometown of Lviv.

Sofiia was apparently taken in by the Yorkshire couple pair after Tony signed up for the government’s rehoming scheme. However, according to The Mirror reports, he became impatient and reached out on social media to speed up the process.

It started with Tony becoming Sofiia’s sponsor and she moving into their house. And just a week later, he decided to leave his wife and two kids to start a new life with Sofiia.

Mr. Garnett, the father of two minor girls, stated that he has fallen in love with Sofiia and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. Meanwhile, the girl, who left her hometown and moved to the UK just ten days earlier, claims that she has been ‘fancying’ him since the time she first saw him and that the two of them are now very much in love with him each other.

The new couple is now living with Tony’s parents, as Tony’s wife, Lorna had an encounter with Sofiia when she came to know about their relationship and asked her to move out of her house. To which Tony’s reaction was, “If Sofiia leaves, I leave as well.” Tony is now looking for a new house to move into with Sofiia.

On the other hand, Tony’s wife, Lorna Garnett, shared with the media that she was upset about the whole situation. She said she was heartbroken as her husband decided to leave her for this Ukrainian girl who came into their lives only a few days ago.

While talking to The Sun on Sunday, Lorna said that she believes Sofiia had set her eyes on Tony from the very beginning; she planned to move here with them to have her take on Tony.

She said she had her doubts about the thing going on between her husband and this girl; however, she still allowed her to move into their house out of empathy, given the whole Russia-Ukraine war situation.

“I decided it was the right thing to do to put a roof over someone’s head, be it a man or a woman, and help them when they were in desperate need. But she didn’t care about the devastation that was left behind and everything I knew has been turned on its head in the space of two weeks.”

“This is how she has repaid me for giving her a home.” Lorna added.

When the press asked Tony why he did what he did, he said that he only wanted to do the right thing and had no other intentions; however, life is unpredictable, and sometimes, things like this happen.

He said he first got in touch with Sofiia through Facebook; they interacted on a page, and he offered to house her as a refugee under the government’s scheme. Later, in the first week of May, Sofiia flew to Manchester and reached their house, where she stayed until things got bad between herself and Lorna.

Tony said he and Sofiia developed a connection, and he just couldn’t help it. It was not his intention to ditch her wife like this, yet it happened.
