A twin born just 15 minutes apart has separate birthdays in 2021 and 2022

California woman gave birth to twins minutes apart in 2021 and 2022.

People magazine reports that Fatima Madrigal and Robert Trujillo had babies at Navidad Medical Center in Salinas, California. Their daughter was born 15 minutes after their son.

“Natividad welcomed Aylin Yolanda Trujillo as the area’s first baby of 2022!” the hospital tweeted on Saturday.

“Her twin, Alfredo Antonio Trujillo, was born 15 minutes earlier at 11:45 pm Friday, December 31, meaning their birthday falls on a different day, month, and year — a 1 in 2 million chance!”

Aylin was 5 pounds, 14 ounces. It was the first baby born at Natividad Medical Center and in Monterey County in 2022. Alfredo, her big brother, weighed 6 lbs.

“It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays,” Madrigal said, per People. “I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight.”

Dr. Ana Abril Arias said it was “one of the most memorable deliveries of my career,” according to the outlet.

“It was an absolute joy to help these little ones get here safely in 2021 and 2022,” she said. ‘What a great start to the new year!’ she added.

In the meantime, Madrigal’s twins will be welcomed home by their three older siblings. Madrigal says that her oldest son is happy that one of the babies is a boy. She says her family couldn’t wait to meet them.

In another rare occurrence, an Indiana woman’s twins were born just 30 minutes apart, but on different days, months, and decades later, WRTV reported.

The report says one baby was born on December 31, 2019 and the other was born on January 1, 2020.

The Gilliams welcomed twins Joslyn and Jaxson. Joslyn was born December 31, 2019, at 11:37 pm. On January 1, 2020, she gave birth to her brother at 12:07am. Gilliam said she was shocked.

There are about 120,000 twin births in the US each year, making up over 3 percent of all births, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
