The 63-year-old American actress has been subjected to criticism for sharing a photo on her Instagram account that featured the famous embattled actor, Johnny Depp.
Three days ago, the True Lies star reposted a photo on her Instagram that included the Pirates of the Caribbean alum along with Jeff Beck, Michael McKean, & Guest: road ready.
“MOTLEY CREW REDUX,” she captioned the photo.
As soon as Lee Curtis shared the post on her account, many annoyed fans started commenting and calling out the actress for supporting a violent person.
“Delete this, Jamie,” one user wrote.
“Looks like some are totally ignoring the court case and making themselves look ridiculous. How sad, you are a superstar and a woman, and yet you are supporting a problematic person,” another wrote.
“Watch out, Depp might sue you,” a third user penned sarcastically.
“Anyone who supports Johnny Depp in any way supports Domestic Abuse,” another commented.
“Supporting wife beaters, Jamie?” said someone else.
Amid the backlash, many Depp supporters came to defend Lee Curtis and maintained that the Rum Diary actor won the case against Amber Heard and no one should blame him or his friends for standing up for him anymore.
“Don’t mind the trolls… Thanks for supporting JD! He deserves it,” one supporter commented under the photo.
“I am sorry that AH supporters feel it necessary to try and shame you for your post of Johnny Depp and friends. They seem to verbally attack and bully anyone including his own daughter. They are doing a disservice to not only themselves but to true victims of DV,” another chimed in.
Meanwhile, some fans also took to Twitter and supported the Freaky Friday actress for siding with Depp.
“I see people are now attacking Jamie Lee Curtis for posting a picture of Johnny Depp. He won in a fair televised trial where both parties had to do extensive disclosure and Amber Heard was caught in multiple lies. Leave him and the people who support him alone, for God’s sake,” one Tweet read.
“Amber Heard fans wanna accuse Depp fans for being misogynists but y’all attack Jamie Lee Curtis for posting an old photo of Johnny Depp with his bandmates. The hypocrisy is REAL,” a second tweet said.
The Halloween alum isn’t the first media personality to face backlash for supporting the Pirates actor; two weeks ago, the Barbadian singer Rihanna was also slammed for including Johnny in the fourth edition of her Savage X Fenty fashion show.
According to TMZ, the 59-year-old actor did not take to the show’s runway but made a brief cameo in Volume 4 of the show on November 9. Depp was the first male celebrity to be featured in the spotlight moment of the fourth installation.
According to Variety, “his brief cameo follows in the vein of other celeb moments, like Cindy Crawford’s appearance in the 2021 Savage X Fenty showcase.
“Other confirmed celebrities for the “Vol. 4” show include Rihanna herself, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” actor Winston Duke, “Abbott Elementary” Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph, Marvel’s “Shang-Chi” star Simu Liu, “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson, Irina Shayk, Marsai Martin and performances by Burna Boy and Anitta.”
Savage X Fenty Vol.4 premiered on Amazon on Wednesday, November 9.
