It’s OVER!
American singer and television personality, Cher, 76, has reportedly broken up with her much younger boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards.
As reported by TMZ, the split occurred a few weeks ago, and it is still unclear who initiated it.
A few sources have also claimed that the pair were not engaged despite sparking engagement rumors in the last few months.
“The singer shared a massive diamond ring she was given by Edwards on Christmas, leading to speculation he popped the question. However, sources now contend that they were never actually engaged and decided to, ‘play into the speculation it was an engagement ring,” wrote Daily Mail.
The couple started dating after their first meeting at the Paris Fashion Week in September last year.
The Believe singer confirmed her relationship with the 37-year-old music producer two months later. The hitmaker’s announcement came a few days after she was spotted holding hands with him.
The legendary singer shared a series of tweets about her new relationship and said that age doesn’t matter when you love someone.
“Love doesn’t know math, it sees,” the I Got You Babe singer wrote when one follower asked her if the 40 years age gap affects her relationship with AE.
The 76-year-old also shared a solo picture of her boyfriend and wrote, “Alexander” with a heart emoji.
The singer also wrote a message for her haters and said their opinions don’t matter.
“I’m Not Defending us. Haters are Gonna Hate…Doesn’ Matter That we’re Happy & Not Bothering Anyone,” she tweeted.
The singer also noted that Edwards has been treating her like a ‘Queen’ and he has already met everyone in her family.
According to People, “The two met during Paris Fashion Week back in September, she said. He’s an artist on rapper Tyga’s independent label Last Kings Records and was last linked to model Amber Rose, with whom he shares a 3-year-old son, Slash.”
Edward’s relationship with Rose ended last year in August after, almost three years after the model accused him of cheating on her with twelve different women.
In August, Amber wrote to Instagram that she was done with her relationship with the musician due to his infidelity.
“I’m tired of getting cheated on and being embarrassed behind the scenes,” she wrote in her story.
“All 12 of y’all bums (the ones that I know of there’s probably more) can have him. Y’all very much knew he was in a relationship with a baby and y’all decided to f**k him anyway. I saw all the texts and DM’s. Y’all were well aware but y’all don’t owe me any loyalty, so it’s whatever.”
A few days later, Alexander admitted cheating on Rose and stated that loyalty was not one of his core strengths despite his love for the model.
“In the end, I don’t think anybody can be happy or successful if you’re not truly yourself, whether other people understand it or blame you …” he wrote on his Instagram. “It’s just who I am, and it’s not how [Rose] wants to be loved.”
Knowing this and his cheating history, many fans of Cher tried to remind her what she was getting into and that maybe she should reconsider her decision to stay in a romantic relationship with Alexander.
To this, the 76-year-old Believe singer replied that she was very well aware of everything and made her decision in the right mind.
“BABE ENGLISH IS MY FIRST LANGUAGE,” she said in a now-deleted tweet. “I’M IN NOT BLINDED BY IT. KNOW WHAT I KNOW … SMOKE DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN.”
