Never underestimate the ingenuity of the Chinese. These people really do know how to earn their money.
There is one particularly crafty lady from China who has just done the unthinkable in terms of raising funds for an initial deposit on a home. Want to know what she did? Well, read on further to find out.
Her plan was simple really: get 20 boyfriends to give her brand new iPhones each and sell them all for cash. It was that simple. With the amount of money that she raised, she was able to put a down payment for a house that she wanted. A blogger under the pseudonym of Proud Qiaoba actually told a very detailed narration of how this entire scheme was executed by a colleague of hers named Xiaoli.
It might seem like a totally outrageous and unbelievable story. But UK-based journalism behemoth BBC actually looked into the matter and was able to authenticate the claims that were presented.
Proud Qiaoba had said that she was so shocked when Xiaoli told her about selling the 20 iPhones to a mobile phone recycling plant for a total of $A23,200 or $17,815. She then proceeded to use that money for an initial deposit on her house.
“Everyone in the office is talking about this now,” wrote Proud Qiaoba in her blog as reported by the BBC.“Who knows what her boyfriends think now this news has become public.”
Both Proud Qiaoba and Xiaoli do not come from well-off families. And that’s why the latter really had to get creative when she was thinking of ways to raise money to fund her future home.
“Her parents are getting old and she might be under a lot of pressure hoping to buy them a house,” wrote the blogger. “But it’s still unbelievable that she could use this method.”
What makes it all even more impressive is the speed at which Xiaoli operated. It only took her a few months to fully execute her plan until its end. Not only is she a smart and crafty individual, but she’s fast in her moves too.
Others might deem what she has been doing as bad and inhumane. But people who have been following the story have actually shown some admiration for her craftiness. On China’s microblogging platform Sina Weibo, people have been talking about just how smart she is.
“I can’t even find one boyfriend. She can actually find 20 boyfriends at the same time and even get them to buy her an iPhone 7. Just want to ask her to teach me such skills,” commented one user.
But of course, she’s going to have her fair share of detractors as well. People often describe her act to be completely “shameless.”
But truth be told, Xiaoli doesn’t seem all too concerned about the negative comments that are being made about her.
