Couples In Healthy Relationships Reveal The 9 Top Communication Tips They Use To Strengthen Their Love

Some of the best tips I’ve seen.

1. Problems should always be addressed with a team mindset.

Not one person can carry an entire relationship alone. What’s the point of being in a relationship if you’re just going to end up doing everything by yourself? When you have troubles or worries in your relationship, then you should both be addressing it as a couple. You have each other’s backs after all. You should both be able to trust one another. And when you do get through challenges and hurdles together, you come out closer and stronger than ever before. You build the camaraderie in an already strong relationship.

2. Never be withholding when it comes to your affection and appreciation.

Every opportunity that you can get to tell your partner that you are appreciative of them, you should grab. You should always make it a point to make your partner feel that you are grateful for their existence in your life. You never want to find yourself in a situation where your partner feels underappreciated and undervalued.

3. Having regular arguments isn’t always a bad thing; it can also be healthy.

Conflict is inevitable. But it can always be managed effectively. That much is true. So don’t worry if you and your partner have the occasional spat about stuff. That is not necessarily going to be a sign of your dysfunction. Things only ever really get dysfunctional in a relationship when you find yourselves incapable of navigating your way back to a place of safety after having an argument. You just need to make sure that you find a way to compromise and come to resolutions to your conflicts swiftly. You don’t want these fights to get drawn out and allow these negative feelings to metastasize.

4. It’s more important to listen than to talk to one another when you’re having a disagreement.

Sometimes, it’s just as much about listening than it is about expressing. You have to be able to try to see things from your partner’s perspective if you really want to get closer to them. You can’t always just make it all about yourself. Try to see things from your partner’s point of view so that you can better understand one another.

5. Always communicate your needs clearly, honestly, and effectively.

You can’t expect your partner to be a mind reader. You have to acknowledge the fact that sometimes, subtle hints and passive-aggressive behavior just isn’t going to cut it. If you want or need something from your partner, then you have to be able to communicate these things openly and effectively. You can’t just think that they’re going to provide you with everything that you need from them if you don’t make it clear to them about what it is you really need.

6. Financial matters must always be a welcome conversation to have.

Talking about money can often be a sensitive issue especially to a lot of people who are insecure about their finances. But to say that money doesn’t matter in a relationship would be immature and naГЇve. Of course money matters in a relationship. You need financial stability if you want to be able to sustain a certain lifestyle with one another. And as uncomfortable as it may be to talk about money sometimes, you’re just going to have to suck it up. You and your partner need to be open to talking about financial issues especially if you’re looking to really stay together for a long time.

7. You should never resort to character assassinations no matter how heated things can get.

There will be times wherein you will want to rip your partner’s head off out of frustration and that’s okay. It happens. We’re only human after all. But always make sure that you maintain your tact. You can’t lose your cool. You don’t want to end up hurting your partner to the point wherein the wounds become irreparable. You don’t want to end up saying things that you’re going to end up regretting in the future.

8. Always be sensitive with your choice of words and tone of voice.

There are so many unnecessary arguments and fights that could all have been avoided with the proper choice of words and tone of voice. Remember that you are dealing with a human being who has emotions as well. And while emotions can often get the best of us, we have to minimize those moments of vulnerability as much as possible. When talking to one another, keep a calm and positive voice and avoid using dirty and hurtful language.

9. Timing is important when it comes to being completely honest.

Yes, when you have a strong relationship, you should feel comfortable with always being honest with one another about everything. But you also have to remember that you need to take into consideration the timing of whatever you want to bring up to your partner. There is a proper time and place for things to come out into the open and you always have to be mindful of that.
