Musk’s father, Errol Musk, has admitted he’s not proud of Elon Musk since the entire Musk family has achieved “a lot of things for a long time.”
The 76-year-old spoke for 20 minutes on Monday on the KIIS FM radio show, where he discussed the Tesla chief and his younger brother, Kimbal. Errol mocked his son’s physical appearance and downplayed his son’s success in the interview.
“Your offspring is a genius. He’s worth so much money and has created so many things; you can’t take that away from him. Are you proud?” presenter Jackie O asked Errol.
Accordingly, the 76-year-old answered, “No. You know, we are a family that have been doing a lot of things for a long time, it’s not as if we suddenly started doing something.”
The children of Errol’s first wife Maye Musk, Elon, Tosca, and Kimbal, traveled the globe with him since they were children, visiting places such as the Amazon rainforest and China. “They’ve seen a lot of things, and we’ve done a lot of things together,” he stated, adding, “But Elon has in fact sort of really surpassed the mark.”
Errol said that his billionaire son is five years behind schedule in his career in the interview. “He (Elon Musk) is frustrated with progress and it’s understandable,” the billionaire’s father said. He added, “I know it sounds crazy, but we tend to think like that as a family. He’s 50 now and I still think of him as a little boy. But he’s 50, I mean that’s an old man.”
Further, Errol said that Kimbal Musk, Elon’s younger brother, was his “pride and joy”. Also, he said that Kimbal Wyly had a lucky marriage since he and Cristiana Wyly spent a lot of time together. According to him, he is concerned about SpaceX’s CEO not finding a partner willing to give up his career to support him.
Currently, Elon is single. He has nine children with four different women. Errol stated, “He (Elon) has to find a woman to give up what she’s doing, and that’s not easy.”
During the 20-minute interview, the South African engineer also commented on his eldest child’s appearance. According to Errol, Elon Musk is very strong but he’s been eating badly. Errol suggested Elon take diet pills after seeing pictures from his Greece trip showing the Tesla founder relaxing topless on a yacht.
Errol also admitted to the talk show hosts that he didn’t drive one of his son’s electric cars. Instead, he drives a Bentley, a Rolls Royce, and a Mercedes.
