Seann William Scott is an American actor and comedian best known for his roles as Steve Stifler in the movie series American Pie franchise and for his character of Doug Glatt in Goon and Goon: Last of the Enforcers.
His other notable projects include The Rundown, The Dukes of Hazzard, Role Models, Lethal Weapon, Final Destination, Bulletproof Monk, and Bloodline.
Scott also voiced a character in the four Ice Age films and two television specials.
As of 2017, Scott’s movies have been estimated to gross over $4.91 billion at the global box office.
Although Seann has been a part of many big projects and has a huge fan following, the actor doesn’t seem to be in the limelight anymore. His last project on screen was a thriller movie, Already Gone, which was released in 2019.
Recently, the Evolution actor’s fans took to Reddit and talked about his absence from the movies and his outstanding work in the past years.
Unilad reported that cinema lovers initiated a thread discussing that Scott could have played roles like Chris Pratt and Ryan Reynolds but instead, the directors and producers kept casting him for the same type of roles as Stifler.
“Anyone like Seann William Scott? I watched him for the first time in the American Pie movies and Evolution and just find him a likable presence.”
“I wish he had been in more movies. I feel like he could have played the same kind of roles Chris Pratt and Ryan Reynolds play.”
“Guess he was to typecast as Stifler or there are just sold actors destined to be lost in the shuffle.” the user wrote.
A fan commented under the post, “The Rundown great job by him. Old School amazing in his one scene. Role Models he is perfect against Paul Rudd. Road Trip he absolutely carries that movie at points. Man’s been done wrong.”
“He did a Reddit AMA a few years ago. Someone asked why doesn’t do very many movies. He simply replied, ‘I don’t get offers’. I think he also said that he has never turned down a movie role.
“I don’t know if that means directors and studios don’t like him or if he’s maybe unwilling to audition. Either way, we don’t get to see him much.” Wrote another.
“I actually watched an interview with him where he was brutally honest… He had a dramatic movie he played in and it completely bombed. Not too many people watched it and the critics were brutal.
“And he is often typecast as Stiffler. It’s unfortunate because most people don’t really realize he’s actually a pretty decent actor with a comedic side to him. Even role models flew under the radar,” Someone else discussed his film ‘Just Before I Go’ which didn’t gain much success and was heavily criticized.
“As great as I think Ryan Reynolds is at Deadpool, I can also see Sean pulling off that role. Unfortunate for his career tbh.” The user continued.
“Anyway, Scott may not be doing movies, he is appearing in an American Mockumentary Sitcom on Fox, very soon. Let’s hope we get to see him more on our screens from now on.”
Scott’s Welcome to Flatch is inspired by BCC’s show This Country and is set to be released by the end of September.
