Goldie Hawn wishes a happy 72nd birthday to the love of her life, Kurt Russell.
Taking to her Instagram on Friday, March 17, the Overboard star posted a screenshot of herself sitting with a very happy-looking Russell during their interview with Sunday Morning.
“Happy birthday to the wacky man in my life! I love you, baby,” she wrote.
The two legends of Hollywood have been together since 1983.
Hawn and Russell are not married; however, they make one of the industry’s most lovely and long-standing couples.
The couple first met in 1966 on the set of their movie, The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, but their romance didn’t start until 1983.
“I was 21, and he was 16, and I thought he was adorable, but he was much too young. And then years later we met up again, and I liked him and I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him. But we both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell,” said Hawn in 2012.
Seventeen years after their first meeting, the couple reconnected on the set of Swing Shift, where Kurt tried to flirt with Goldie while he was drunk and somehow managed to gain her attention.
“I didn’t know Goldie at all outside of having worked with her many years before. I just didn’t know in my mind what I was going to see. She had a great body, and so the first that came out was ‘Man, you got a great figure.’ And it kind of came out quickly and it could’ve been wrong and she said, ‘Why thank you,’” he told Cannon O’Brien.
Soon after their reunion on the set of Swing Shift, the duo began dating, and ultimately, things became serious.
In 1986, the couple welcomed their first child together – a son, Wyatt Russell.
In 2004, Goldie and Kurt became grandparents for the first time when Goldie’s daughter, Kate, gave birth to her first child.
“I would love to be a grandmother,” Goldie told PEOPLE in 2003. “I’m not pushing the matter, but it would be so much fun.”
Goldie and Kurt are grandparents to seven children.
