Travis Kelce is already counting down to Christmas. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end said in an interview published November 5 that he is excited for his first holiday season as a married man. He wed Taylor Swift at Madison Square Garden in July, four months earlier.
Kelce made the comments while promoting his new winter campaign with Tommy Hilfiger. Speaking to WWD, according to E! Online, he said, “I’m excited for my first holiday as a married man.”
He kept going. Travis Kelce told the outlet he loves all the old traditions and can’t wait to start some new ones. His start date is simple. “I start celebrating as that tree goes up,” he said.
Page Six quoted the same lines from the campaign itself, with one small change: Christmas instead of holiday.
Old traditions and new ones, in the same sentence. Kelce grew up with one family’s way of doing December. Swift grew up with another. Their first married Christmas is where those two versions finally have to share a living room, and Kelce sounds like a man who wants to keep both.
A Perfect Christmas Includes Family and a Night Game
Kelce’s idea of the perfect holiday, per Page Six, is a night game on Christmas Day with his entire family in the stands.
Football on Christmas is not a fantasy for him. Page Six noted that his 14th NFL season started two months after the wedding, and that Swift has been a staple at his home games this season. The pair’s most recent joint appearance was a Manhattan dinner date in October.
His dream holiday puts the job and the family in the same building. Plenty of marriages spend years arguing over which one gets December. Travis Kelce has simply decided the answer is both, under stadium lights.
Kelce’s Special Gift from Taylor Remains a Secret
Swift has already won at least one Christmas. On his New Heights podcast, Kelce said the best gift he received was from Taylor, as Page Six reported.

Then he stopped himself. He told listeners the gift “gives away things that we’re trying to keep in house.” He did not say what it was.
Two of the most photographed people alive, and they still have a drawer nobody gets to open. Keeping a few things in house is how a public couple stays a couple.
Last Year’s Ski Trip After the Broncos Game
Last Christmas looked different. According to a source who spoke to The Sun, as cited by Page Six, the couple planned a ski vacation after Kelce’s Christmas Day game against the Denver Broncos. The same source described skiing, hot chocolate and cozy rooms.
Kelce has his idea of a perfect holiday mapped out.
The year before that, Page Six reported, the couple spent Christmas with both of their families together for the first time.
So the pattern was already forming before the vows: game first, then family, then somewhere quiet. In September, Kelce told ESPN’s Chris Berman the wedding was “the best night of my life,” and said on New Heights that he wished it could have lasted longer. E! Online reported nearly 1,000 well-wishers gathered at Madison Square Garden for it.
What the first married Christmas actually looks like is still unknown. Kelce has not said where they will spend it, whether the mountains are back on the calendar, or which new tradition comes first. He has only said the celebrating starts when the tree goes up.
