Taylor Swift has a habit her husband Travis Kelce simply has to live with. At a New York City Q&A on Sunday, following a screening of “Toy Story 5,” the singer admitted that she and her childhood best friend Abigail Anderson still talk to each other in “Napoleon Dynamite” voices. Their husbands, she said, have no choice in the matter.
Taylor Swift Reveals Her ‘Weird’ Habit at Q&A
Swift was talking with “Toy Story 5” director Andrew Stanton, according to Just Jared, and explaining why the friendship between Bonnie and Blaze in the Pixar film hit her so hard. The point, she said, was “finding someone who’s the same genre of weird and silly as you are.”
Then she went back to Nashville. Swift moved there at 14 and remembered sizing up the girls at her new school, the cool ones and the nice ones. Then there was one girl named Abigail.
Swift said the two still do the voices to this day, and Page Six quoted her saying it’s something their “husbands have to put up with.”
She performed it on the spot. Doing her best impression of Jon Heder’s character from the 2004 movie, she acted out a typical exchange between the two friends, opening with the line “What are you doing today?”
Travis Kelce Supports Swift’s Unique Quirks
Kelce wasn’t on stage to respond. He didn’t need to be. Swift framed the voices as a fixture of her marriage, not a confession, something Kelce and Anderson’s husband, Charlie Berard, have both simply absorbed.
Swift and Kelce married in July after three years together, Page Six reported, with Anderson among the guests. Swift had been a bridesmaid at Anderson’s first wedding in 2017. Both women are 36 now, and the friendship that started in a Nashville classroom has outlasted every chapter of Swift’s career.
Twenty-plus years of the same impression. That is a long-running bit.
Do you and your best friend have a silly inside voice or catchphrase you still use?
Two months after the wedding, Kelce’s 14th NFL season began. A source who spoke to the Daily Mail, cited by both Page Six and The Blast, described a household built around his schedule. Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly commented on that account.

According to that source, the couple work out together, lift weights and eat a high-protein diet to keep up with the demands on Kelce’s body. They spend a lot of time with his family, and the source said Swift has grown close to his mother, Donna Kelce. The two women were seen embracing in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium during a Chiefs win over the Los Angeles Chargers, The Blast reported.
The same source, quoted by The Blast, said of Swift: “She never complains because football is his passion.”
The home has a new resident, too. The Blast reported the couple added a white Samoyed named Wendy to a house already run by Swift’s three cats, Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button.
Taylor Swift Habit Highlights Relationship Acceptance
Taylor Swift spent most of that Q&A talking about a friend, not a husband. But the two halves of the story fit together. She described Anderson as the person who saw her strange little genre at its purest, and then casually mentioned that Kelce lives alongside that same genre every day.
Most couples spend the early years performing a slightly polished version of themselves. The real marker of comfort is when the silliest habit, the one that predates the relationship by two decades, stops being hidden and becomes background noise in the kitchen. Swift didn’t apologize for the voices. She did one onstage.
Kelce’s version of the same deal is football. According to the Daily Mail’s source, Swift accepts the hours his season demands. He accepts a grown woman quoting a 2004 cult comedy with her best friend.
Swift has been writing new music while Kelce’s season runs, Page Six reported. Her song “I Knew It, I Knew You” appears in “Toy Story 5.” What comes next on the album front, she hasn’t said.
