Luke Grimes Discusses Family Life and Moving to Montana with Bianca

Luke Grimes has never said much about his marriage, but the little he has shared keeps coming back to one place: Montana. The Yellowstone actor told TODAY in 2023 that his wife, Brazilian model Bianca Rodrigues, was the reason they live there at all. Now that they have a son, that choice looks less like a move and more like a plan.

Luke Grimes Talks About Family Life in Recent Interview

Grimes played Kayce Dutton on the Paramount Network series from 2018 to 2024. On screen, Kayce is married to Monica, played by Kelsey Asbille. Off screen, Grimes has kept his own marriage mostly out of view.

He made one exception. Talking to USA Today in July 2023, he kept it simple. “I’m a very married person, and I love my wife to death,” he said. PureWow reported he added that the two would be together forever.

Short. Plain. No hedging.

The Couple’s Move to Montana Was Influenced by Bianca

Rodrigues went up to Montana with Grimes one year while he was working. Speaking on the 3rd Hour of TODAY, he said she fell in love with the place and the two settled into a rhythm there. Texas, where they had been living, lost its pull. “Going back to Texas didn’t sound like much fun,” he said. So they stayed and built a house.

Luke Grimes gave Country Living the longer reason. “My wife and I wanted to raise a family somewhere else,” he said, meaning somewhere other than Los Angeles. He told her about Montana, and by his account she fell for it too. According to Wikipedia, the family settled in the Bitterroot Valley of southwestern Montana in 2020.

Rodrigues posts from there constantly. Her Instagram bio carries a pin emoji next to the word Montana, and one photo of the sky was captioned “I love you Montana.”

Rodrigues tagged along when Grimes went to Montana for work one year. By his telling, she was the one who “just sort of fell in love with it.” Grimes credits her with the move. The state was his workplace, and she was the one who decided it should be home.

Bianca Rodrigues Learned English Watching ‘The Office’

Rodrigues arrived in the United States without knowing a word of English, Grimes told People. By the time they met, she had been in the country for two years and spoke it fluently. He asked how she had managed it so fast.

Her answer: “I watched ‘The Office’ with subtitles.”

Grimes tells the story with obvious delight. He has a similar one from his music career. At a concert, PureWow reported, he described glancing over at Rodrigues looking out a window, clearly enjoying herself, and deciding he wanted to be more like her. Two anecdotes, same pattern. He talks about his wife as someone he learns from.

She has her own name for him. In anniversary posts on Instagram, Rodrigues calls Grimes “anjo,” Portuguese for angel. In November 2021 she wrote, “Happy anniversary anjo! Te amo.” In November 2022 she marked three years married to her favorite person in the world.

The wedding date itself depends on who you ask. PureWow, citing Us Weekly, puts the ceremony in November 2018. Wikipedia lists November 2019, which lines up with the three-year post in 2022. Neither has shared details of the day.

They Welcomed Their First Child in October 2024

Rodrigues announced the birth of their son on Instagram on Oct. 9, 2024. The photo shows her holding the newborn, looking off into the distance. The caption: “Welcome to the world little man.” A week later she posted a family photo with the three of them.

Luke Grimes was 40 at the time, according to PureWow. The son they talked about raising somewhere other than Los Angeles is now being raised in the valley Rodrigues picked.

Yellowstone has ended its run for Kayce Dutton, and Wikipedia lists Grimes in the CBS series Marshals in 2026. Neither he nor Rodrigues has said whether new work will change where the family lives. For now, the house they built is still in Montana.
