A couple, emphasizing their contentment despite a 42-year age difference, has responded to online critics who label the woman a ‘gold digger.’ David Epstein, aged 70, hailing from Oakland, California, encountered his wife Jackie, 28, during a visit to the Philippines.
The couple actively shares their affectionate moments with their nearly 50,000 followers on their joint TikTok account, @dave_jackie2818.
The couple’s TikTok account features affectionate moments, such as Jackie sitting on David’s lap, playfully pinching his face, with a caption expressing gratitude, “I am blessed.” Other videos showcase the couple dancing. Despite their expressions of love, not everyone is supportive, and the couple has found themselves defending their relationship on multiple occasions.
The couple has faced criticism from some followers, with one suggesting David should have chosen an older woman at the bingo hall, while another speculated about Jackie’s motives, implying she is ‘all about the green card.’
Addressing these assumptions on the YouTube channel Love Don’t Judge, Jackie responded, saying, “So many label him as my sugar daddy, say I’m a green card digger, a gold digger. But I’m not really affected because it’s not true. I know myself, I know that I am not a gold digger.”
Fortunately, Jackie has found support from her family and friends, who are very understanding and encouraging of the relationship.
“I won’t regret marrying Dave because he’s a really nice man. He loves me, he respects me, he’s the best,” she said.
David and Jackie’s love story began on the dating website Cherry Blossoms, which is designed for members seeking to meet Philippine and Asian women online. Their connection blossomed while David was in Jackie’s homeland, and within just six months, David proposed to Jackie.
Recalling their initial meeting, David shared, “We met when I was in the Philippines. I was using a dating site. One day I saw her profile – I practically jumped out of my chair. I was so impressed by what I saw.”
Reflecting on their wedding, Jackie expressed, “Our wedding was fun. It was the best day of my life. My parents and siblings couldn’t make it here.” Despite the absence of some family members, the couple found joy in their celebration.
Upon agreeing to meet David, Jackie confessed that she “did not review his profile” and “had no idea what he looked like.” However, she sensed that he was a gentleman and genuinely kind. Jackie received her visa 11 months after David proposed, and the couple decided to reside in the United States.
Jackie currently works at a local drugstore in California but remains connected to her roots, ensuring she visits the Philippines annually to be with her family and provide financial support.
