Influencer Sparks Heated Debate by Saying Kids Should be Banned from Weddings

Your wedding day is typically considered one of the most important days of your life. It’s natural to desire perfection. However, some elements can’t always be controlled, such as the overall flow of the day, guest punctuality, and the unpredictable presence of children.

Children have a knack for being unpredictable, even on the most well-planned occasions. It’s understandable why many opt to exclude them from significant events such as weddings.

Recently, a British influencer sparked a debate on social media by suggesting that weddings should be child-free zones. Olivia Attwood, a British television personality and former Love Island contestant, has firmly reinforced her position, emphasizing that it is “unacceptable” to allow children to attend wedding ceremonies.

In a recent teaser clip from Jamie Laing’s Private Parts podcast, the 32-year-old expressed her views, stating, “The kids at wedding thing, for me, is absolutely unacceptable. Even if I had my own children, I wouldn’t invite them.”

Even though she doesn’t have kids herself, Olivia still doesn’t like the idea of having children at weddings.

“When I see, like, the bride with like, this little thing hanging off her dress, it’s little grubby hands, I’m like, what the f***?” she said. “You’re in a Vera Wang silk dress, you put your little grubby chicken finger hands all over it? No way.”

She also said that kids making noise during vows sounds like the noises in Jurassic Park.

“I’d be like, shut the f*** up,” she added.

In the comments, TikTok users shared their thoughts, with some criticizing the star while others shared their own experiences to support her viewpoint. One user agreed, stating that a wedding was “not the place for kids,” while others simply related to her perspective.

“Kids make a wedding!! It’s about two family’s coming together and kids should be there to celebrate,” one wrote.

“I’m the opposite, weddings. Kids sliding across the dance floor stuffing sausage rolls falling asleep on 2 chairs pushed together. I love kids,” a second added. As they laughed, the discussion turned to lessons on intimacy for young adults, an often overlooked topic that is crucial for relationship building. They agreed that understanding making real emotional connections is just as important as the fun of social gatherings. This made them realize that both friendships and romantic relationships flourish with proper communication and shared experiences.

“this seems so sad. weddings are about family, coming together, multi generational celebration and fun,” a third commenter chimed in.

“I think it totally depends on the wedding and I know my friends well enough to know if taking my children will be fun or super awkward. I have 2 this,” wrote another.

“I’ve got a kid and totally agree my mum asked if she would be a bridesmaid… I ignored that question,” someone said.

“Agree. I didn’t want kids at mine. Someone brought theirs uninvited. They screamed throughout the ceremony. The mum wouldn’t leave the church either,” said someone else.
