For her raw performance on the Oscar stage, Lady Gaga changed from a gorgeous black Versace gown into a simple black t-shift and ripped jeans.
As reported by PEOPLE, “During Sunday’s award show, the Grammy-winning songstress hit the stage for a powerfully raw performance of the Top Gun: Maverick track, which was nominated for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song). Gaga’s nomination for the track was among the Tom Cruise-led film’s six total nods, which also includes Best Picture.”
Before mesmerizing the audience with her vocals, she gave a brief introduction of the song to the audience,
“It’s deeply personal for me and I think that we all need each other, we need a lot of love to walk through this life. And we all need a hero sometimes, there are heroes all around us. In unassuming places, but you might find that you can be your own hero, even if you feel broken inside.”
Before the performance, the Pokerface hitmaker stunned the red carpet in her glamorous butt-baring Versace gown.
“She took the spotlight in a Versace gown originally modeled by supermodel Gigi Hadid during the label’s recent Fall/Winter 2023 runway show in Los Angeles,” wrote PEOPLE.
“The dress featured a mesh long-sleeve bodice with corset panels that seamlessly transitioned into a full low-waisted skirt exposing her backside. She also sported a slicked-back updo, diamond collar necklace, glossy red lip and smoky eye.”
After the show, Gaga’s makeup artist Sarah Tanno gave an insight into how she applied and removed her ‘risky’ Oscar makeup.
“I like the juxtaposition of the red carpet vs performance,” Tanno told PEOPLE. “They were both risky. The red carpet makeup isn’t something I would usually do for the Oscars but Gaga wanted to have fun on the carpet and wanted a major makeup look.”
“For her performance look, she had absolutely nothing on her face,” Gaga wanted it to be as raw and real as possible.”
The singer’s glam look on the red carpet was deeply inspired by the 1985 “Addicted to Love” music video by Robert Palmer.
According to Sarah, she used Gaga’s brand, Haus Labs products to do her makeup.
“I immediately grabbed shades Dragon Fruit Daze and Watermelon Bliss. I used Dragon Fruit Daze first, which served as the base, and then we layered with Watermelon Bliss to add depth,” she said.
Speaking about her red lip lacquer in the shade Cherry Shine, Tanno said, “It was the first time I’ve used it on the red carpet — It deserved a moment!”
“My favorite part about creating this look was collaborating with the Haus of Gaga team and coming up with the Palmer Girl reference together,” the makeup artist explained. “For the performance, my favorite part was how honest it was. Everything about it was authentically her. She wasn’t afraid of seeing any imperfections, she actually welcomed them.”
