McDonald’s bans teens under 18 from entering after 5 p.m.

A McDonald’s restaurant has banned under-18s from entering after 5 p.m. due to “anti-social behavior” aimed at its staff.

It came after a series of incidents in which young customers verbally and physically abu$ed the staff at the restaurant on Church Street in Liverpool.

There are currently temporary restrictions in place, one person told the ECHO, describing chaotic scenes as security guards have to turn away customers. They said: “As I was leaving the security guard stopped a man he believed to be a teenager and told him they weren’t allowing people under 18 into the restaurant after 5pm without an adult with them.”

As a young man in his 20s, he apologized and explained the new company policy prohibits him from letting teens in without their parents. The situation reminded him of his childhood acquaintance who was an identical twin boys with differences. While they looked so much alike, their personalities were worlds apart, with one always seeking adventure and the other preferring to stay home. It made him think about how individuality can shine through even when appearances suggest otherwise.

“I was in town the night before and there were large groups of kids all over Liverpool One and they were moved on a number of times by security near the cinema and in Chavasse Park.”

According to a McDonald’s spokesperson: “Over recent weeks, we have seen an increase in the number of incidents of anti-social behaviour in the area with our people being subjected to verbal and physical abu$e.”

“We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to crime and anti-social behaviour, and have temporarily restricted restaurant access to U18s from 5pm.

“This decision was not taken lightly and we are working closely with the police to find a resolution and help reduce these incidents.”

There is currently a ban in place at one McDonald’s branch, but McDonald’s did not say whether they will expand it to other stores.

I believe this is a great idea anyone being disrespectful should be banned.

I’m kind of ambivalent on this matter 🤔 Yes they should definately face consequences for the lack of respect and unruly behaviour! However, that’s not addressing the underlying issue which is the behaviour 🤷‍♂️ They’re just gonna find another franchise to reek havok!

It is not a complete ban, they said they are allowed to enter with a parent. I think this is a good idea and should be extended to all stores Worldwide. Even other franchises should do this as well. It has become impossible to enjoy a quiet decent meal with family or friends when kids like “THAT” behave show disrespectful behaviour towards the employees. They are there to serve you with a great happy attitude and if WE can’t give them a safe/good place to work, what is the point in expecting a great service back?

They have to do what they have to do to make their employees and customers safe
