Recently a woman gave birth to her baby on an American Airline Flight from New York to the Dominion Republic, per Newsweek.
In a series of viral videos on TikTok, user Kendalee Rhoden @pinkangel876 revealed that her sister gave birth to a premature baby on the flight.
“Her sister can be seen being escorted off the plane as the other passengers clap in support,” the outlet reported.
According to Rhoden, three women helped her sister to deliver the baby safely.
“If you know them, please send them this video; we just wanted to say thank you, we really appreciate you for all the hard work you did that day because we know how things really could have gone left. Thank you very, very very much…we know it’s not easy to deliver a baby on an airplane,” she said on TikTok.
In a second video, Rhoden explained that although her sister joked about delivering the baby in the car, they weren’t sure it would happen but on the plane.
“While we were going to the airport, the road was kind of bumpy, and my sister jokingly said that she was feeling like she’s gonna have the baby in the car.”
“And by the time we reached the airport, she said that the baby was stiff on one side and she was in a little bit of pain,” Rhoden continued,” I said to her that it was because of how the drive was, and it was nothing serious. So, we checked in, and my sister said she needed to use the bathroom.”
“After we crossed the gates and was about to board, she complained of the pain again and sat down; she was almost shaking. My mother told her that maybe the baby wanted to come out, but my sister was adamant that it wasn’t the case and she just needed to go to the bathroom.”
The TikTok user said that her sister kept twisting and turning when they were settling down in their seats on the plane. So, she asked him to take the window seat and get some sleep.
“But what sleep? Rhoden said an hour into the flight, and she started having her contractions. “She told me that her water broke, and there, BOOM! The baby was on his way out.”
Kendalee’s original video received more than 1.6 million views and thousands of comments.
“Not sis air-dropping a child. Congrats to you both.” One wrote.
“When smaddy ask him weh him come from him a go say “me drop out a sky,” a second joked.
“Oh my I would name the airianna or skye, skylar, congratulations!!” a third penned.
Meanwhile, many other people were confused and angry about why the woman decided to travel in the first place, knowing she was just weeks away from her due date.
“I’m so confused because I thought you couldn’t get on a plane after being a certain amount of months for this exact reason.“
“U not supposed to travel when ur 9 mos I thought.”
“So y’all ignored ALL the red flags.”
“This woman was determined to go on vacation. She was in active labor in the car!! And the cabin pressure surely helped pop that sweet baby out.”
“The fact that she still got on the plane with all those symptoms is nuts. Nobody thought this was labor even if early? I would’ve been omw to.”
Speaking to the outlet, American Airlines stated, “On Sept. 7, American Airlines flight 2443 from New York (JFK) to Punta Cana (PUJ) declared an emergency before landing due to a medical emergency on board. First responders met the flight upon landing, and the customer was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.”
