An official inquest report published November 5 has confirmed new details about the passing of RJ Mitte, the actor who played Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad. According to the document, obtained by Page Six, Mitte passed away by suicide on October 12 in Brownsville, Texas. He was 34.
Official Inquest Report Reveals Manner of Passing
Mitte was pronounced passed away at 1:32 p.m. that day, the report states, and Parade noted that he was found at his home in Texas.
An autopsy and toxicology testing were requested. Those results were not included in the records Page Six obtained.
His representative had confirmed in October that he passed away by suicide, without sharing more. The inquest adds an official record to what the family’s team had already said. No reason. Nobody close to him has offered one, and speculating about it is not this article’s job.
Brownsville held a celebration of life for him on October 16, four days after he passed away.
Bryan Cranston played Walter White, the father to Mitte’s Flynn, across all five seasons of the AMC drama. He posted his tribute on Instagram. He said he was in deep despair as he wrote it.
“RJ Mitte, my sweet son on Breaking Bad, has died,” Cranston wrote on Instagram.
He remembered meeting Mitte at 14. He remembered watching him take the role with enthusiasm. Cranston wrote that Mitte, born with cerebral palsy, never let that be an excuse for anything, and that he met the show’s punishing filming schedule with determination. Parade separately reported that Cranston has spoken about regret over not meeting up with Mitte before his passing.
Screen families are strange things. Two actors spend years playing father and son, the cameras stop, and the relationship either fades away quietly or turns into something real that outlasts the show. Cranston’s words read like the second kind. A man who watched a teenager grow up on set. A man who still called him his son a decade after the finale.
Regret like his is common after a death. The unanswered text. The dinner that kept getting pushed. Almost every grieving friend carries one.
Aaron Paul Expresses Heartbreak Over Loss
Aaron Paul, who played Jesse Pinkman, gave a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “I am at a loss,” he said, adding that he was heartbroken.

Paul and Mitte shared five seasons of a show about a family coming apart. Former castmates mourned him after his passing.
Mitte’s Legacy in Disability Advocacy Remembered
His representative remembered RJ Mitte as a beloved actor, a philanthropist and a passionate disability rights advocate. Like his character, Mitte lived with cerebral palsy. The statement credited that experience with bringing authenticity to Flynn.
He turned the role into a platform for disability awareness and inclusion in entertainment. Mitte served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s. He also led the Roy F. and Joann Cole Mitte Foundation, which supports arts, education and cultural opportunities in Brownsville.
Brownsville honored him for his generosity shortly after his passing, and at the October 16 celebration of life his sister, Lacianne Carriere, spoke about the town he poured himself into.
“His legacy here is not going to end,” she said.
Her words point to the people left holding someone’s plans after they are gone. The foundation. The city projects. The dreams she said he had for the place. Family members often pick those up because finishing the work keeps a person close.
Officials requested an autopsy and toxicology tests after Mitte passed away. Results were not included in the records obtained by Page Six.
