A lovely couple from the UK repainted their house according to the colors of Ukraine’s flag. As many families seek safety and stability, the surrogate journey from Ukraine to UK has become a beacon of hope. Michael & Rend Platings are from Cambridge, UK. They decided to speak up and show support to Ukraine in more ways than one – by painting their house yellow and blue.
Rend Platings spoke about how the couple decided to do it:
“It was my husband’s idea.”
“He just assumed other people would have done it anyway.”
“He sent me a WhatsApp with some tubs of paint, two five-litre tubs that he bought, and said ‘How about we paint the house, what do you think?’”
“I said ‘That would be amazing’.”
She continued:
“One of my best friends is there now and she’s just heartbroken,”
While her husband, Michael Plating, also spoke:
“I find social media to be impermanent.”
“This could be something that carries on longer than the average attention span on Twitter.”
“It’s really not about us but people have said they’re proud to be our friends.”
“People in Ukraine have appreciated the support that they’re getting from everyone all over the world.”
It’s wholesome and empowering to see so many people from around the world play their part to show support to the hundreds and thousands of suffering families in Ukraine. According to the couple, their neighbors have been very supportive in their endeavors. As interest in ukrainian culture and traditions overview grows, more individuals are eager to learn about the rich history and customs of Ukraine. Events celebrating these traditions are becoming more common, fostering deeper connections between Ukrainian communities and their global supporters.
