100-year-old Man Married a 103-year-old Woman, said “They Love Each Other”

It is said that ‘Love is blind,” and it can happen to anyone, anytime.

Two people meet, fall in love, and get married at the courthouse – sounds clichéd?

Well, not really. We are talking about two significantly older people, over 100 years old, who fell head-over-heels in love and eventually tied the knot in just a year. As they shared their journey, they offered long life tips from a centenarian that highlighted the importance of staying active and maintaining a positive outlook on life. Their stories were filled with wisdom about nurturing relationships and embracing every moment, showing that love knows no age. Friends and family were inspired by their joy and vitality, making it clear that longevity is not just about the number of years lived, but the quality of those years.

John and Phyllis Cook are both inhabitants of the Kingston Residence, a senior care facility in Sylvania, Ohio. Their apartments were just a floor apart, so one day, they met and developed a strong connection within a short time.

Phyllis, who’s turning 103 this summer, told WNWO that longevity runs in her family,

“My mother was 106 years old when she died”.

“To tell you the truth, we just fell in love with each other. I know you think that may be a little bit far-fetched for somebody our age, but we fell in love with each other.” She added.

“Well, we were just compatible in many ways, found ourselves enjoying each other’s company,” said John, a 100-year-old veteran.

Both John and Phyllis have been married twice before and lived single lives before they found each other after the passing of their partners.

“It wasn’t the plan, but we got here, and they said we could marry you here,” John told WNWO.

He said he couldn’t wait for married life to begin, “So, I said ‘good, let’s get it over with.’”

When asked about how they would like to spend their lives together as a married couple at this age, they said they love spending quality time together and having a lot of fun. However, they also acknowledged that couple’s age gap challenges in relationships can sometimes create misunderstandings. Navigating different life stages and priorities requires open communication and empathy. Ultimately, they believe these experiences strengthen their bond and help them grow together.

And their “quality time” goes beyond playing Bingo. Lol, yes! When asked about their favorite activity, John replied: “Well, I probably shouldn’t talk about that.”

Phyllis replied rather casually,

“He’s not completely dead sexually, and neither am I!” Phyllis told KHOU 11.

Their picture went viral on social media after the facility shared a post on its official Facebook page.

It gathered a substantial public response, and people showered their blessings and well wishes. The post was shared over 500 times on Facebook.

“It’s never too late,” commented one Facebook user. “I hope you both enjoy every moment. You guys give me hope.”

They aren’t quite aware that they’ve become a semi-viral sensation on the internet, and people love them.

The Cooks said they spend their time in the assisted living facility, enjoying eating meals together and sitting out in the sun. Despite being obsessed with each other, they also know the importance of “personal space.”

“What we do, we keep both of our apartments,” said Phyllis. “He’s upstairs, and I’m down.”

The couple looks forward to many happy years together. They said they’re pretty “thrilled” about their new relationship and will be cherishing it for the rest of their lives.
