Is Amber Heard Banned from Twitter?
Just a couple of days after her ex-boyfriend, the ‘richest man in the world,’ Elon Musk, took over Twitter, Heard’s official Twitter account has vanished. Error 404? Eh.
Many people and multiple media outlets noticed on Thursday, November 3, that Amber’s official account, @realamberheard, no longer exists on the platform.
“Heard, 36, still has an Instagram account with 5.3 million followers, where her most recent post is her June 1 statement after the verdict in her Virginia defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp,” wrote PEOPLE.
Elon and Amber started dating in April 2017 after her official split from her former husband, Johnny Depp.
According to People Magazine, “The former couple was first spotted out together several times throughout 2016, sparking romance rumors, and later went official with their relationship in April 2017.”
“Their budded romance turned heads at the time as both Heard and Musk were weathering public breakups. The actress and Johnny Depp finalized their divorce in January, while the tech mogul filed for divorce from Westworld actress Talulah Riley in early 2015.”
After four months of relationship, the couple broke up in August 2017, reconciled a few months later, and eventually called it quit in 2018.
Speaking about her break up, Amber told The Hollywood Reporter in December 2018, “Elon and I had a beautiful relationship, and we have a beautiful friendship now, one that was based on our core values. Intellectual curiosity, ideas, and conversation, a shared love for science. We just bonded on a lot of things that speak to who I am on the inside. I have so much respect for him.”
Coming to Musk, after spending months on getting out of his deal to buy the social media platform, the Tesla founder now officially owns Twitter.
According to Reuters, “Elon Musk has taken ownership of Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) with brutal efficiency, firing top executives but providing little clarity over how he will achieve the ambitions he has outlined for the influential social media platform.”
On Thursday, October 27, 2022, the CEO of Tesla, $44 billion, completed his deal and wrote on his official Twitter account, “The bird is freed.”
Since his takeover last week, the ‘Chief Twit’ is on a roll – from entering the Twitter headquarters with a sink to announcing plans to charge for blue tick verification, Elon is not going easy on anyone!
In his open letter posted on the platform for all Twitter Advertisers, the tech mogul stated that Twitter would no longer be a ‘fee-for-all-hellscape’ where anything can be put out there without worrying about consequences.
“Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences,” he wrote.
He further added that he believes advertising, when done right, can show you how a product or service you never thought you would need can prove to be essential for you.
“For this to be true, it is essential to show Twitter users advertising that is as relevant as possible to their needs, as low relevancy ads are spam, but highly relevant ads are actually content!”
The business magnate also shared his reasons for buying the platform and wrote,
“There has been much speculation about why I bought Twitter and what I think about advertising. Most of it is wrong. The reason I acquired the company is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.”
The 51-year-old billionaire also said that he didn’t do it to make more money but to help the humanity he loves.
And I do so with humility, recognizing that failure in pursuing this goal, despite our best efforts, is a very real possibility.”
The CEO of SpaceX also fired some senior staff members, including Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde.
A few reports suggest that Musk did it after accusing the people as mentioned above of misleading him and potential investors over the number of fake accounts on Twitter.
“Agrawal and Segal were in Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters when the deal closed and were escorted out,” a source told Reuters.
Following his takeover, many celebrities took to their official Twitter accounts. They announced their discomfort and unhappiness with the news; some even said they were leaving the platform for good, including Shona Rhimes, Ken Olin, Josh Gad, Rob Reiner, and a couple more.
And now people can’t find his ex-girlfriend, the Aquaman actress, Amber Heard’s account on the platform. While we’re not sure if Amber herself has deleted the account or if it is Elon’s doing, the Twitteratis have some interesting things to say.
“Probably afraid Elon will have access to her DM’s,” one wrote.
“Maybe Amber Heard deleted her Twitter cuz she can’t afford the $8/month, and losing her verification would hurt her ego too much,” said another.
“Listen, I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but Amber Heard staying on Twitter through all the shit she (deservedly) got post-trial just to delete her account nanoseconds after Elon Musk bought the platform is uhhhhhhhhhh SPICY,” someone wrote.
