This sad and tragic incident happened in September 2020, in Leicestershire – a girl named Angel Lynn was forcefully taken in a van by her toxic boyfriend when she fell off and suffered massive brain injuries.
Angel Lynn, A Girl Who Loved a Toxic Boy
Angel Lynn and Chay Bowskill were in a relationship for a year before this incident took place in 2020. They had a rocky relationship, to say the least. While Angel had a bubbly and happy personality, Chay was the opposite.
In September, 2020, an infuriated Chay kidnapped 19-year-old Angel and put her in a van. They sped on the A6 near Loughborough at around 60mph when Angel got off the van, receiving severe brain injuries in the process. She is now 21 years old, in a catatonic state – unable to eat, speak or walk.
Chay had an accomplice, Sansome, who helped with the kidnapping; both of them were jailed. On January 26, 2022, Chay was sentenced to seven and half years in prison, while Sansome received 21-months for playing his part.
According to LeicestershireLive, Angel’s father Paddy said:
“Our lives have been changed beyond recognition forever.”
“Angel was so full of life and had such a great future ahead of her. That future has sadly been taken away from her.”
“The catastrophic injuries Angel suffered will mean life will never be the same for her or our family. Every day is not only a huge struggle for Angel but also a huge struggle for our family and friends.”
“We are lucky in some ways as we are a close family, we have lots of lovely friends who help us and people that care in other ways.”
“We try to remain strong but we know that every day will be difficult and a struggle for us all especially for Angel.”
“I know that Angel will never get married now and I will never get to walk my daughter down the aisle.”
“Nikki and I will never be grandparents to Angel’s children. We don’t know what the future holds for our daughter but we try to put smiles on our faces each day but inside our hearts are bleeding out.”
Angel’s aunt, Julie Hutchinson, also spoke on the tragedy:
“She’s alive but she’ll never live a life and she’ll be in constant pain.”
“She was a very lovely person and so kind. When she entered a room you’d think the sunshine had walked in. I feel the fact she is alive is a technicality.”
“It’s been a terrible, terrible thing for the family. She’s in hospital and will have to have care for the rest of her life.”
“She’s just catatonic – she can’t talk, feed or walk.”
Chay’s Mother Defends Her Son
On the other side of the story, Chay’s mother also spoke about the incident. While speaking to The Sun Online, she defended her boy while expressing sorrow for Angel:
“I knew Angel well, she was always staying with Chay at our house, she was such a lovely, beautiful girl.”
“I can’t believe that she will never be her normal happy and chatty self again. It’s so upsetting.”
“My son’s not a bad boy but he’s not a saint.”
“I can’t blame my son for her injuries, I need to protect him and stand by him.”
Angel’s cousin, Nikki Lynn, started a GoFundMe campaign for Angel’s treatment and recovery – you can help out by donating here.
