If You’re In Love, You Need To Be Loyal

If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t really have to act as if you were available.

If you were truly in love with a person, you wouldn’t have to be shady with how you hold your phone while messaging someone. You wouldn’t want to have to hide your phones screen from your partner’s gaze because you know they wouldn’t like what they would end up reading. If you were truly in love with a person, you wouldn’t have to use code names for the people on your contacts’ list. If you were truly in love with a person, you wouldn’t have to constantly be clearing out your message logs on a daily basis because you’re afraid someone might end up snooping around in places where they aren’t supposed to be looking.

If you were truly in love with someone, your phone wouldn’t be ringing in the middle of the night; you wouldn’t have to rushing out of the room to make sure that your partner doesn’t hear your phone conversations. If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t have to be acting really weird about your communications in general. If you were truly in love with someone, you would no longer be wasting your time with those dating apps anymore. You wouldn’t have to be browsing through various social media pages of strangers just so you could keep your options open in case you want to change your mind.

If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t have to constantly daydream about what it would be like to be with another person. You wouldn’t be entertaining the idea of what if scenarios with people you’re not with. If you were truly in love, you would completely eliminate all other options just because you’re already more than content with what you have. If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t have to tie your sense of confidence and self-worth to how other people would appreciate you. If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t have to engage in harmless flirting just to get a slight ego boost because the only person your ego would ever go to for a boost would be your partner.

If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t really have to act as if you were available. You wouldn’t be conducting yourself in a manner that would suggest to other people that you are up for grabs. If you were truly in love with a person, you would dispel all notions of your availability and your infidelity. You would make it perfectly clear to everyone around you that you are in a relationship, and you aren’t looking to play around. If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t be handing your phone number out left and right; you wouldn’t be eyeing other people in the club. You would keep to yourself and shun any advances made towards you.

If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t be acting so reckless to the point where you let yourself get wasted. You would be limiting your alcohol intake because you wouldn’t want to put yourself in a position where you actually lose control of your senses. You wouldn’t want to end up inadvertently being unfaithful to your partner just because you drank a little too much. You would never want to bring that kind of pain or betrayal to the person you love most in the world. And so you stay disciplined for the sake of the one you love; for the sake of your relationship. If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t be keeping in constant communication with your exes just so you can have someone to fall back on if things don’t work out.

You wouldn’t have a person waiting in the wings to catch you in case the relationship doesn’t pan out the way that you want it to. If you were truly in love with someone, you wouldn’t have a back-up plan because you would be confident that things are going to work out. You know that you would be willing to put your heart and soul into what you have so that you won’t ever have to think about what life would be like without the one you love. If you were truly in love with someone, there is no fallback.

If you were truly in love with someone, you would never cheat on your partner whether in a physical or an emotional capacity. You would never be emotionally invested in anyone else because whatever emotional energy you have to give goes right into the relationship that you’re already in. You wouldn’t even think about touching anyone else because all of your physical intimacy is reserved for the one you love. If you were truly in love with someone, you would stay loyal.
