Jamie Lee Curtis is an American actress, producer, children’s author, and activist. She first became prominent with her portrayal of Lt. Barbara Duran on the ABC sitcom Operation Petticoat.
Jamie is famously known for playing the character Laurie Strode in the Halloween films franchise. Her other notable projects include True Lies, Freaky Friday, Trading Places, My Girl, A Fish Called Wanda, Knives Out, Anything But Love, Scream Queens, and You Again.
The actress received several awards during her acting career, including a Golden Globe Award, People’s Choice Award, BAFTA Award, and a nomination for Primetime Emmy Award.
Currently, the 63-year-old actress is promoting her movie Halloween Ends which is reportedly the last Halloween movie she will be a part of.
Recently, the Anything But Love actress appeared on The Jimmy Kimmel Show and signed a document attesting that Halloween Ends will be the last Halloween movie she is going to feature in.
According to Daily Mail, “Jimmy, 54, pulled out a document titled ‘I declare this is my last Halloween movie’ for Jamie, 63, to sign after playing Laurie in six previous Halloween films.”
Before signing the document, the True Lies actress looked reluctant as she said, “I should call my lawyer first before I sign anything,”
But seconds later, she did it.
“I’ve been weeping for about a month now, trying to figure out how to say goodbye to all of this,” she added.
When Kimmel asked her why her character in the Halloween film series is so close to her heart, she threw a question in return.
“Let me ask you, how would you feel if you had to say goodbye to your show, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, and your crew?”
“Well… laughed Kimmel. “It’s a little different because no one is chasing me around with a knife.”
“Jamie also shared that on Wednesday she would be getting her hands and feet imprinted into cement on Hollywood Boulevard to go with her Hollywood Walk Of Fame star that she received in 1998.” – Daily Mail.
Curtis said she was very excited to experience the whole thing and would take off her shoes if required.
Later the actress cried during the movie’s promotion when fans called her the greatest ‘Final Girl’ in the world.
The emotional video was shared by the official Instagram account of Halloween Ends on Friday. The actress moved to tears while watching a video clip featuring her fans thanking her for the iconic portrayal of Laurie Strode.
“The greatest ‘Final Girl’ in the world,” one fan exclaimed.
“You mean a lot to myself, and horror fans and film fans across the world,” said another.
“I love you, we love you, thank you,” a third fan concluded in the video while blowing a flying kiss.
“Thank you, guys.” The actress responded with tears in her eyes.
“It’s obviously hard, all of it is hard saying goodbye, and nobody wants to say that. So, I won’t say that. I am just going to say thank you.” she added. “It’s a legacy that I’m very, very proud is attached to me and one that I treat with a lot of respect. So, Happy Halloween everybody, God bless you all. Thank you for everything.”
According to Variety, “The film is predicted to earn $43.4 billion at the domestic box office during the opening week.”
Earlier this month, Jamie also penned an essay for People and reflected on her experience of playing Laurie Strode in the Halloween movies for more than 40 years.
“I have tried over the years to inculcate those aspects of Laurie’s character into my own, to carry that mantle and represent survivors of all types of unimaginable horror and trauma, pain and suffering, who stand up to tyranny and oppression — real and imagined,” she wrote.
“When I look scared in a movie, it’s because I am scared. I am scared right now, as I hang up my bell-bottoms and say goodbye to Halloween. Life is scary. But Laurie taught me that life can also be beautiful, filled with love and art and life! Thank you all for MINE!”
