John Travolta is one of the most successful actors of his generation and is well-respected and loved by his fans and peers. However, Travolta’s life is not without its fair share of tragedy. Back in 2009, Travolta went through one of the most dreadful experiences of his life when his son Jett died at the age of 16-years-old.
He had passed away after hitting his head in a bathtub and having a seizure. Recently, Travolta took to Instagram to pay tribute to Jett on what would have been his 30th birthday.
A Touching Tribute
“My dearest Jetty, I miss you more than words can say. I think about you everyday. Happy Birthday. Love, your Dad.”
That was the caption that John wrote in a heartwarming tribute that he made for his late son Jett on his personal Instagram. In the picture, John is seen smiling together with his son in a black and white photo. Travolta currently has more than 3.8 million followers on the Instagram platform, and the post has garnered more than 375 thousand likes and 11 thousand comments.
It’s always painful whenever you lose someone you love. But there’s something just so sad about a parent having to bury their child. And while Travolta has indeed gone on to live a happy life with the rest of his family by his side, this post just proves that he keeps his late son in his heart despite the passing of the years.
Shows of Support
Jett is John’s son with late wife Kelly Preston, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 57 after a long battle with breast cancer. John and Kelly also had a daughter together, Emma, and another son after Jett passed away, Benjamin. Ella was one of those who showed support for her dad by greeting her late brother with a happy birthday.
“Happy Birthday Jetty, we love you so much,” commented Ella.
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis also left her comforting words for John in the post.
“Oh John. My hand in yours.” wrote Jamie.
Travolta has been posting several tributes on his Instagram lately. Most notably, he posted words of support for his good friend and Pulp Fiction co-star Bruce Willis after the latter retired from acting. Willis has recently made the rounds on news cycles after his family revealed that he was suffering from aphasia and would have to retire from acting altogether.
Just one week prior to posting his tribute to Jett, John also posted a birthday message for his daughter Ella.
“Happy birthday my dearest Ella! I love you so much. We’re here in England having afternoon tea to celebrate and I’m also here to shoot a short film called, ‘The Shepherd’ based on a book by Frederick Forsyth that I’ve always loved.”
