MGK was single too. He and Megan Fox got engaged in 2022 and called off their engagement by 2024. The two share a daughter, Saga Blade.

Dakota moved on with another musician. Johnson, 36, first sparked dating rumors with the singer, 28, in December 2025. Then in August it was reported that they broke up “a while ago”.
July 3, 2026: The Taylor Swift Wedding
This is where most reports say the spark started. They reportedly met and hit it off at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July 3 wedding extravaganza at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The timing is a little fuzzy, though: a source close to MGK told PEOPLE that Johnson and the musician had met before attending the wedding.
September 12, 2026: First Photos Together in New York
They first attracted dating speculation after being photographed together in New York City on 12 September. They were photographed arriving at their mutual friend Taylor Swift’s Tribeca apartment in New York City.
September 2026: Sources Say It’s Serious, and Dakota Jokes About Musicians
An unnamed source told Us Weekly that Johnson and MGK were dating seriously and had been speaking and FaceTiming daily.
In a Vogue interview published September 18, Dakota was asked about knowing so many musicians. Her reply: “They like me. I don’t know what to say.”
September 22, 2026: Dakota Shows Up at Vogue World in Milan
Johnson also attended Vogue World: Milano on September 22, when the musician walked in the fashion show. Afterward, they were later observed arriving at a speakeasy in Hollywood.
October 3, 2026: The “Cleveland” Joke on SNL
Dakota hosted Saturday Night Live, and Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance. In the monologue, Dakota joked that dating musicians was a public service: “ladies, I am saving you a lot of money on Zoloft.” Then she thanked America, England, parts of Ireland. And Cleveland,” a reference to Travis Kelce, which led to the rejoinder, “Allegedly.”
Variety read the Cleveland line as a nod to Travis. Fans took it another way: they assumed the Splitsville actress was referring to MGK with the Cleveland comment as he is a Cleveland native.
October 2026: A Reported Birthday Party Appearance
This one comes from an anonymous tip, so treat it carefully. MGK reportedly arrived after the other guests and joined the group in a private room at Via Carota, attempting to go incognito in a hoodie, face mask, and sunglasses, per DeuxMoi.
October 15, 2026: The Studio Pickup and an Overnight Stay
Photos published by Page Six showed Dakota waiting outside the recording studio wearing an oversized leopard-print coat and black trousers, with a laptop in hand. The pair were seen leaving together, and the rapper’s vehicle was still parked outside Dakota’s home the following morning, suggesting he may have spent the night.
October 22–23, 2026: Megan Fox Reportedly Isn’t Bothered
A source told TMZ that “Megan is completely unbothered by MGK moving on with Dakota, and she’s got no interest in getting involved in his love life.” A Page Six source went further and said she’s “actually relieved he’s moving on”. According to that source, Megan has nothing against Dakota and wishes the rumored couple well.
October 23, 2026: A Rare Daytime Date
The rumored couple were spotted on a rare daytime date on October 23, leaving a music studio in Los Angeles. Around this time, Dakota was photographed several times heading in and out to visit him, and sometimes even wearing his clothes. They were also seen partying together at Chateau Marmont.
November 3, 2026: All Smiles After Dinner in Calabasas
The actress and the rapper were spotted outside a restaurant Tuesday night in the affluent California city while waiting for the valet to pull their ride around. In one of the photos, Dakota’s beaming up at the 6’4″-tall star.
The same week, a People source said they connected over their shared “dry and dark sense of humor” and they “make each other laugh.”
November 5, 2026: The Khaite Party
Two nights later, they stepped out for a Khaite-hosted event at Dan Tana’s in West Hollywood, California on November 5. They left the venue separately, but got into the same car together to head home. MGK was in the driver’s seat and held up a bandana to cover up Dakota’s face from photographers’ view.
Where They Stand Now
For now, Dakota and MGK are a couple in everything but name. They’ve been spotted all over New York, Milan and LA, but they haven’t confirmed anything. They appear content to keep their budding romance relatively private, despite their increasingly frequent appearances together.
Not everyone thinks it’ll last. One insider told the Daily Mail, “I don’t think Colson is the perfect fit for Dakota, but who knows.” Still, the latest People source says “They both really like each other and have been seeing each other more frequently.” We’ll update this timeline if either of them confirms the relationship.
