Meghan Markle Talks About Her Shared Pain with Princess Diana

When Meghan Markle first joined the Royal Family via her marriage to Prince William, her life drastically changed forever. The two first announced that they would be getting married back in November 2017. Harry designed a custom diamond engagement ring that he had given to Markle for the proposal.

The ring was designed by Cleave and Company using just one diamond sourced from Botswana and two smaller stones from Princess Diana’s personal collection. Even since their engagement, the late princess has played a pivotal role in the couple’s romantic life.

Ever since the two of them tied the knot in May of the following year, both Meghan and Harry have received an onslaught of controversy at the hands of the public and mainstream media. All of this proved to be too much for the couple, which ultimately led to the two of them leaving the Royal Family.

This left many people in shock, as never has such a high-profile member of the Royal Family left the firm in such a manner in recent history. In an interview that the couple gave Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry opened up about his fears of “history repeating itself” with his marriage to Meghan about the tragedy that took his own mother’s life.

Meghan’s Personal Struggles

Even before the couple got married, Meghan had already been subjected to many controversies due to her genealogical heritage. There was also the controversy surrounding her father and his non-involvement in her life and the wedding.

It would be straightforward for many people to think that the Duchess of Sussex is a woman who has everything that she could possibly want in life. After all, it’s every girl’s dream to marry a prince, right? But that isn’t necessarily the case.

The Duchess recently opened up in an interview that was a part of a documentary that covered a royal tour of Africa that both she and Harry were a part of. In the interview, Meghan opened up about the pressures of being a mother while constantly being scrutinized by the mainstream media and the public. A visibly emotional Meghan said:

“Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging. And then when you have a newborn, you know. And especially as a woman, it’s a lot,”

ITV’s Tom Bradby was conducting the interview and continued to ask her whether her experience as a public figure in the royal family was a struggle. She said:

“Yes,”

“It’s really been a struggle… I’m not really okay.”

The Importance of Mental Health

In light of everything that has been going on behind the scenes, it shouldn’t come as anyone’s surprise as to why both Harry and Meghan decided to leave the royal family. Many witnesses to Diana’s life also believed that her mental health struggled greatly at the hands of living as a member of the firm.
