Reality Star Looks Unrecognizable at the 2024 Emmys

A reality TV star appeared almost completely transformed at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 16, 2024. People were surprised as the former ballroom dancer stole the spotlight on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Dressed in a form-fitting red mini dress, the star looked very different from her appearance at the MTV Awards the previous week, where she had taken inspiration from pop singer Chappell Roan. The drastic change in her style sparked a lot of conversation.

With fuller lips, a revealing outfit, and tattoos covering most of her body, the Drag Race Season 16 finalist had fans wondering who she was.

Guess who it is? It’s Plane Jane from Season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, whose real name is Andrew Vladimir Dunayevskiy. She finished third in the competition and became known as the season’s villain, a title she proudly accepted.

In the second episode, Plane Jane wowed the judges with her debut single, Burger Finger, and took home the win in the talent competition. She managed to secure immunity by outshining Geneva Karr in an intense lip-sync battle.

During the early stages of the competition, the American drag performer developed a reputation for offering unnecessary and unasked-for advice and criticism towards other queens, often coming off as condescending while insisting she was only trying to “help.”

Plane Jane was among a lineup of stars at the Emmys, where the event was hosted by Eugene Levy and Dan Levy. The duo made history as the first father-son team to lead the prestigious ceremony. In 2020, the actors each won Emmy Awards for their roles in their popular series, Schitt’s Creek, which they co-created and starred in for six successful seasons.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” they said in an interview with Vanity Fair in August.

“We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all.”

The Bear achieved a remarkable feat by earning 23 nominations in the Comedy category for a single year, surpassing the previous record of 22 nominations set by 30 Rock in 2009. In the Drama category, Shōgun led the way with 25 nominations.

The nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series included Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, Palm Royale, Reservation Dogs, and What We Do in the Shadows.

This year’s ceremony took place less than a year after the 75th edition of the show. It was held in January after being pushed back from its original September 2023 date because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes.

Jesse Collins and Dionne Harmon, who are Emmy Award winners, along with Emmy-nominated Jeannae Rouzan-Clay from Jesse Collins Entertainment, returned as executive producers for the 76th Emmy Awards. This was their second year in a row producing television’s biggest night.
