This Married Japanese Couple Has Been Wearing Matching Outfits For 38 Years

Halloween has just ended and so we’re all probably sick of seeing all of those pictures on our feeds of couples who try to outdo one another with their paired costumes. We’ve seen it all. Morticia and Gomez Addams. Fred and Wilma Flintstone. The Joke and Harley Quinn. They’re everywhere. Christmas is already coming around and so we’re probably over the whole idea of “dressing up” for the internet. We’re already looking forward to the gifts, the feasts, the decorations, and the carols that accompany the holiday season.

There’s also one other mainstay for the Christmas season and that’s the family portrait cards that you receive from your loved ones. And there’s always so much time and effort that goes into these postcards to. The backdrops. The coordinated outfits. The poses. The makeup. Everything is always just a little extra, right?

Well, not for Tsuyoshi and Tomi Seki. They do these kinds of portraits ALL YEAR long and not just during the Christmas season. The Seki couple is based in Japan and they shot to fame on Instagram because of their posts showcasing the coordinated outfits that they wear on a DAILY basis. There’s just something so endearing about the way these two put so much effort into their outfits and their posts. It gives them something to be busy with given their advanced ages. And it’s always nice to see an old couple still finding new ways to manifest their love for one another. There’s nothing really all too fancy or complicated about the outfits that they wear. They just manage to pull off a very specific sense of style that really works from them. If you’re interested in seeing just a few of the outfits that they wear, then have a peek down below:

1. It’s not Halloween anymore but you can’t deny that they look more cute than spooky in this picture.

2. Here, they are going minimalist with a simple black and white theme. But they add a little life to their ensemble by incorporating checkers. It’s very simple and yet it’s very trendy as well.

3. The level of coordination in this photo is sublime. It’s all about the details with the classic khakis, the striped shirts, and the matching pair of glasses. Although the glasses might be more functional than they are stylish.

4. Green sweater? Not everyone’s cup of tea but they still manage to make it work for them. They also manage to supplement the blandness of the sweater with some long vertical stripes. Don’t forget the matching black leather shoes either.

6. Now here is an actual family portrait. A very nice play on blue and white here between the three people. Don’t forget the extra red lipstick for the ladies just to add a little more pop to the entire look.

7. Now we see them mixing things up in the shoe department. Instead of the usual black leather, they’ve gone for the clean and sporty white rubber. And they’re really pulling it off too. It’s a great offset to the entire “red” theme of the picture. It makes for a really nice holiday photo.

8. By just looking at their clothes, you would never guess that these two are a day above 50. The guy in the classic blue jeans with the folded cuffs. The awesome white sweater that is highlighted underneath the beige parka. All of this is perfectly emulated by the girl but she adds a little hint of red with her socks.

9. Tartan? Yes, please. You don’t have to be a Scotsman to pull off the tartan pattern. It’s a very subdued look for these two with classic themes of the navy to supplement the tartan pattern.

10. This might be a little too fashion-forward for most people but hey, what is fashion if you’re not going to take risks right? Unfortunately, this monochromatic risk might not generally be most appealing to a lot of people.

13. This time, the sweaters don’t match in color but they do in style. The naval blue coats are a nice touch though. They really allow the colors of the sweaters to shine forth.

Of course, not all couples can pull off matching or coordinated outfits. And you don’t have to. Just do what works best for you as a couple.
